Joe Biden is panicking.
Donald Trump just announced he is running for president again.
And now, a series of shock polls show Biden is in serious danger to lose a rematch to Donald Trump.
It’s official: Donald Trump is running for another term as president.
He just announced his third campaign for the office at Mar-a-Lago.
And now with Trump officially throwing his hat into the ring, a rematch between him and Joe Biden seems more likely than ever before.
Fox News reports, “It is a line that former President Trump repeats at every one of his political rallies.
“’In 2024, most importantly, we are going to take back our magnificent White House,’ the former president proclaims.
“On Tuesday night, Trump took a major step towards that goal when he announced his 2024 presidential campaign at his Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida.”
For his part, Biden has all but signaled that he is going to run for a second term himself.
But that doesn’t mean he has any sort of advantages over Trump.
In fact, the biggest problem Joe Biden has before him is that opinion polls clearly show that he’s in a tremendously weak position to beat Donald Trump.
What’s worse, a majority of Democrats in his own party don’t even want Biden to run again.
And now, the general election matchup polling between Biden and Trump shows that Biden is perhaps more vulnerable than any incumbent since Jimmy Carter.
“Biden likes to tout that he is the only person who has beaten Trump, and aides say he remains confident that he is the Democrat best equipped to take down the former president once again. However, public polling suggests a very close contest,” adds Fox News.
“A Wall Street Journal poll conducted late last month indicated the president and former president tied at 46% in a 2024 showdown. An average of all the latest polling in a hypothetical Biden-Trump 2024 rematch, also conducted ahead of the midterms compiled by Real Clear Politics, shows a race that is basically deadlocked.”
With numbers like this, Joe Biden is likely dreading an election rematch against Donald Trump, or really against any Republican for that matter.
That’s because Biden’s own approval ratings are mired in the dirt, with a historically poor level of support across the board from virtually all swaths of the American public.
As a result, Biden knows that if Trump is the nominee in 2024, he faces a very high probability of losing in the re-match.
Of course, Trump still has to win the Republican nomination again, and it’s no guarantee that he will do so with the emergence of potentially strong challengers from elsewhere in the party.
But the nomination contest will likely only make whoever the Republicans select in an even stronger position to defeat Biden in 2024.
And Biden knows this too, which is why he and his team are trying to downplay Trump’s recent announcement for the White House and push even more investigations against him in order to discredit Trump as a candidate.
