Amy Coney Barrett was pitched to Donald Trump as a Catholic conservative that would tip the balance of the Supreme Court.
But now Trump is getting some bad news.
Donald Trump just received this disturbing warning about Amy Coney Barrett.
Conservatives left Amy Coney Barrett’s first term on the Supreme Court disappointed.
Instead, Barrett voted like Chief Justice John Roberts to try and please the left and the corporate media.
But it’s not just conservative activists that felt betrayed by Barrett.
Barrett’s fellow conservative justices ripped her asa coward too afraid to stand on principle because it would invite criticism from Democrats.
South Texas College of Law Houston professor Josh Blackman outlined two instances where Barrett’s colleagues called her out for lacking the courage to hear cases because of the political implications.
One case was Republican Party of Pennsylvania v. Degraffenreid which could have allowed the Court to settle the question of if judges could change election law.
Taking up the case would not have had any impact on Donald Trump’s claims about the 2020 election.
But Barrett voted against taking up the case in a move many saw as folding in the face of “optics.”
Clarence Thomas was one of those critics calling the decision not to take up this case as “befuddling” and “baffling.”
“In February 2021, well after President Joe Biden’s inauguration, the Court declined to review the appeal. Once again, the three conservatives dissented. Based on the process of elimination, Kavanaugh and Barrett refused to take up the case. In dissent, Thomas wrote that the Court had ‘an ideal opportunity’ to resolve this issue ‘before the next election cycle.’ The majority’s ‘refusal to do so’ was thus ‘inexplicable,’‘befuddling’ and ‘baffling.’ Thomas added, ‘one wonders what this Court waits for.’ And by ‘Court,’ he no doubt meant Kavanaugh and Barrett: If one of them had agreed, the Court would have heard the case,” Blackman wrote.
If legitimate legal challenges arise in 2022 or 2024, Republicans can expect Barrett to reflexively rule for the left to avoid CNN and The New York Times attacking her.
In the case of Lombardo v. City of St. Louis, a police officer applied pressure on a prisoner’s back to pin him to the ground.
The prisoner later died in a scene that reminded many of George Floyd.
The Court kicked the case back down to the lower court and Justice Alito ripped Barrett as a coward for punting rather than ruling on the case and inviting criticism.
“Alito, joined by Thomas and Gorsuch, dissented. Based on the process of elimination, Kavanaugh and Barrett agreed with the Court’s strange punt. Alito savaged his colleagues. He wrote that the Court was ‘unwilling to…bear the criticism that’ denying the appeal ‘would inevitably elicit.’ In all likelihood, this punt merely delayed the government’s inevitable victory. But, in the meantime, the Supreme Court gets credit for keeping the case alive. Once again, the Court aired its dirty laundry in public. The three conservatives alleged that Kavanaugh and Barrett were afraid of public criticism, and instead chose to virtue-signal,” Blackman added.
Next term the Court is facing major cases that will offer the most direct challenge to Roe v. Wade in a generation and a chance to expand Second Amendment rights.
And now conservatives do not feel that they can trust Amy Coney Barrett to rule properly.
