Attorney General William Barr found himself cross with President Trump.
Barr disputed President Trump’s claims of voter fraud and received heavy criticism from the President’s allies.
And Donald Trump just made this major announcement about William Barr’s future.
Donald Trump announced on social media that Attorney General Barr would be leaving the administration by December 23.
“Just had a very nice meeting with Attorney General Bill Barr at the White House. Our relationship has been a very good one, he has done an outstanding job! As per letter, Bill will be leaving just before Christmas to spend the holidays with his family. Deputy Attorney General Jeff Rosen, an outstanding person, will become Acting Attorney General. Highly respected Richard Donoghue will be taking over the duties of Deputy Attorney General. Thank you to all!” the President wrote on social media.
Attorney General Barr’s resignation comes after President Trump and many of his supporters became disillusioned by Barr after the Wall Street Journal reported that Barr kept criminal investigations into Hunter Biden secret until after the election despite knowing about them for at least one year.
But in Barr’s resignation letter there was no hint of a feud with President Trump.
Attorney General Barr praised the President’s accomplishments and took a final, parting shot at the Russian collusion hoax.
Barr wrote that the Russia investigation was an “effort to cripple, if not oust, your Administration with frenzied and baseless accusations of collusion with Russia.”
“Your record is all the more historic because you accomplished it in the face of relentless, implacable resistance,” Attorney General Barr added.
Deputy Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen will now serve as acting Attorney General.
Many Trump supporters believe Attorney General Barr must appoint a special counsel to conduct the criminal investigations into Hunter Biden’s business dealings with Communist China.
If Joe Biden takes office on January 20 he could remove the United States Attorneys conducting the investigation and protect his son from criminal prosecution.
Attorney General Barr took this step in naming John Durham special counsel in October to make it more difficult for a potential President Biden to shutdown the criminal investigation into the origins of the Russian collusion hoax.
Should Barr not appoint a special counsel before he leaves the Justice Department, that decision to appoint a special counsel in the Hunter Biden investigation will fall to acting Attorney General Rosen.
Unfortunately Barr’s performance the last year does not inspire confidence that Barr will aggressively protect the Durham probe.
Barr broke with the President on voter fraud, hid the Hunter Biden investigation from the voters which allowed the Biden campaign to claim stories of Hunter Biden’s corruption and Joe Biden’s alleged involvement in these schemes were untrue and also has not prosecuted any of the Deep State conspirators that staged a coup to remove President Trump from office.
