Tucker Carlson went on TV and leveled the most serious allegations possible against the Biden administration.
The immediate question everyone asked was if it was true.
And now Donald Trump had some bad news for Tucker Carlson that broke one giant scandal.
Tucker Carlson set off an earthquake across Washington by stating that a government whistleblower approached him with the news that the National Security Agency intercepted his emails and text messages and planned to leak them to the media in the hopes of forcing Fox News to fire him.
In an interview with Clay Travis and Buck Sexton,Donald Trump spoke from personal experience and explained that he believed Carlson’s allegation was true.
“I think it’s true. It’s totally believable,” Trump told Sexton and Travis.
Trump’s comments came on the same day press secretary Jen Psaki refused to deny Carlson’s claims that the NSA spied on his text messages and emails.
“Tucker Carlson said that the NSA is spying on him. Is the administration aware of any espionage or listening efforts on US citizens by the NSA, and is Tucker Carlson one of them?” a reporter asked Psaki during a trip to Wisconsin.
Psaki offered a non-denial denial which only fueled speculation that the NSA and the Biden administration cooked up a scheme to spy on a prominent critic.
“Well, the NSA has, I think you are well aware, everyone’s aware, everyone on this plane is aware, I should say, is an entity that focuses on foreign threats and individuals who are attempting to do us harm on foreign soil. So that is their purview, but beyond that I would point you to the intelligence community,” Psaki responded.
The intelligence community’s been involved in multiple scandals over the last ten years that make it impossible for many Americans to believe anything they say.
In 2013 whistleblower Edward Snowden leaked to journalist Glenn Greenwald how the NSA warrantlessly spied on every American using its authority to “indirectly” collect Americans’ electronic communications.
Donald Trump learned the hard way how partisans can weaponize the surveillance state against their political enemies.
The FBI used false allegations in the Christopher Steele dossier to obtain a FISA warrant to spy on former Trump campaign aide Carter Page.
Abuses by the security state are legion and go back decades.
Declassified documents revealed the NSA spied on Martin Luther King, Jr., boxing champion Muhammad Ali, and Senators Frank Church and Howard Baker, Jr.
All were considered threats because of their support for civil rights or opposition to the Vietnam War.
Joe Biden and the NSA spying on Tucker Carlson because Carlson speaks out against the administration’s policies would be well within the realm of possibility given how America’s spy agencies acted in the past.
Carlson says there is no question this happened.
The whistleblower communicated information to Carlson that only the person on the receiving end of the texts and emails would know.
Jen Psaki refusing to deny the story will not put it to rest.
