According to reports in a bombshell new book, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley plotted a coup against Donald Trump.
But now the tables are turned.
And Donald Trump destroyed General Mark Milley with this one-word criminal accusation.
Washington Post reporters Robert Costa and Bob Woodward recounted a scene during the 2020 election where Chairman Milley called his counterpart in Communist China and relayed a message that Milley would warn the Communist Chinese if Donald Trump launched a military strike.
Americans were outraged to learn that the president’s top military advisors reportedly colluded with a hostile foreign government to subvert the American president and any hypothetical military action.
Donald Trump released a statement echoing sentiments from Florida Senator Marco Rubio that if this story is true, General Milley should face charges of treason.
“If the story of ‘Dumbass’ General Mark Milley, the same failed leader who engineered the worst withdrawal from a country, Afghanistan, in U.S. history, leaving behind many dead and wounded soldiers, many American citizens, and $85 Billion worth of the newest and most sophisticated Military equipment in the world, and our Country’s reputation, is true, then I assume he would be tried for TREASON in that he would have been dealing with his Chinese counterpart behind the President’s back and telling China that he would be giving them notification ‘of an attack,’” Trump’s statement added. “Can’t do that!”
In the book, Costa and Woodward wrote that Milley became convinced Trump would launch a military strike against Communist China and wanted to head off a potential third world war.
Trump’s statement ripped this idea as fake news – Trump was the first president since Jimmy Carter not to start a new war – and slammed the authors as fiction writers for even entertaining the idea Trump sought to launch World War Three.
President Trump also slammed Milley as an incompetent that presided over the disaster in Afghanistan calling on Milley to face immediate sanctions.
“The good news is that the story is Fake News concocted by a weak and ineffective General together with two authors who I refused to give an interview to because they write fiction, not fact. Actions should be taken immediately against Milley, and better generals in our Military, of which we have many, should get involved so that another Afghanistan disaster never happens again. Remember, I was the one who took out 100% of the ISIS Caliphate. Milley said it couldn’t be done,” Trump declared.
General Milley later tried to defend his calls with Communist China claiming they were part of an effort to maintain “strategic stability.”
But that’s not what the reporting in “Peril” conveyed.
What Costa and Woodward described sounded like treason to Trump and many others.
