CNN tried their best to paint Hunter Biden’s infamous behavior in a positive way.
But they accidentally came to a damning conclusion.
CNN’s attempt to defend Hunter Biden backfired with a shocking admission.
CNN host Jake Tapper discussed his interview with President Joe Biden for Wednesday’s broadcast of CNN’s “New Day,” and said that Biden’s response to reports that his son could be facing criminal charges was to admit that “they only know he committed a crime because my son admitted it.”
Tapper said, “[T]he President knew lots of details about this and he was eager to talk about how much he loves his son, how proud he is, but also the fact that, in his view, the reason that they have a charge against Hunter — as the President knew in detail — was because Hunter had admitted in his book that he was using drugs at the time he filled out that form to buy the gun and said…on the form, said he was not using drugs. So, he knew a level of minutia about this case that suggested he’s — well, as any parent would be, he’s quite aware of what’s going on.”
Co-host John Berman then noted, “He didn’t say he didn’t do it. He didn’t say necessarily it wasn’t against the law. He just sought to explain.”
Tapper added, “I mean, his basic argument is, they only know he committed a crime because my son admitted it. Which I thought it was an interesting thing to say.”
A copy of Hunter’s Oct. 12, 2018, gun transaction form, reported by Politico last year, showed that Hunter had answered “No” to the question asking, “Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance?”
He wrote in his memoir, “Beautiful Things,” that he continued his “full-blown addiction” at the time.
“I had returned [to the East Coast] that fall of 2018, after my most recent relapse in California, with the hope of getting clean through a new therapy and reconciling with [girlfriend and former sister-in-law] Hallie [Biden]. Neither happened,” he wrote.
“Just like in California — like practically anywhere else I’d landed since this long bad dream began — each new day looked exactly like the one before it. Nothing occurred on a traditional wake-up/go-to-sleep continuum. If I knew my crack connection … I would start making arrangements to buy from him as soon as I neared the end of my stash,” he continued.
Weeks after Hunter bought the gun, his lover, Hallie Biden, the widow of his late brother Beau Biden, took the gun from his truck and threw it away into a supermarket garbage can across the street from a supermarket.
“She stole the gun out of my trunk lock and threw it in a garbage can full to the top at Jansens. Then told me it was my problem to deal with,” Hunter admitted in a 2019 text reported by the New York Post.
“Then when the police, the FBI [and] the secret service came on the scene she said she took it from me because she was scared I would harm myself due to my drug and alcohol problem and our volatile relationship and that she was afraid for the kids.”
