CNN’s viewership is nose-bombing in a drastic way.
It’s hard to see how they can possibly turn things around at this point.
CNN just released devastating numbers which show they’re facing ruin.
Extreme left network CNN has horrendous numbers. The total day viewership average went below 500,000 during the week of November 28.
Despite the fact that during the week Georgia had a U.S. Senate runoff, CNN averaged only 495,000 viewers throughout the day and the weekly average was only a little better for them.
That week, only an average of 556,000 people tuned in to CNN, including primetime hours.
In contrast, Fox News on average pulled in 1.331 million daytime views, MSNBC had 754,000, and CNN had only 495,000 views.
During primetime hours for the week on average Fox News brought in 1.957 million viewers, MSNBC averaged 1.204 million, and CNN just 556,000.
On the 1st of December CNN boss Chris Licht announced that CNN had let go of numerous high-profile employees and was gutting its sister network HLN.
Licht said that the company was “reorganizing” CNN International and replacing one of its programs with a simulcast of regular CNN programming, “relying” more on CNN journalists for analysis and making “staff reductions in Newsgathering.”
“Our goal throughout the strategic review process has been to better align our people, processes and resources with our future priorities, strengthen our ability to deliver on CNN’s core journalistic mission and enable us to innovate in the years ahead,” Licht wrote in his memo. “At the highest level, the goal is to direct our resources to best serve and grow audiences for our core news programming and products.”
Licht tried his best to give excuses other than CNN’s low viewership for why the company was laying off employees.
“The changes we are making today are necessary and will make us stronger and better positioned to place big bets going forward without fear of failure,” Licht wrote. “To your departing colleagues, I want to express my gratitude for your dedicated and tireless service and for your many contributions to CNN. To all employees, I want to underscore the importance of taking the time you need to best be able to move forward.
“I am proud of this CNN team, and together we will ensure CNN continues to be the world’s most vital source of news and information,” Licht added. Earlier in the year roughly 300 staffers were let go when CNN closed down its streaming service, CNN+, after it operated for less than a year.
According to a Business Insider report, NBCUniversal, the parent company of NBC News and MSNBC, is planning on laying off employees after the holidays in January.
