Democrats’ hatred for conservative Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas is all-consuming.
Now a Democrat committed a major no-no.
And Clarence Thomas got called one word that crossed a major line.
Republicans in the Georgia State Senate passed legislation that would allow a commission to authorize a privately financed statue of Clarence Thomas – a Pin Point, Georgia native – to stand on the Capitol grounds.
Thomas’ life story is one of the most inspiring in American history.
Clarence Thomas was the direct descendent of slaves, ended up at Yale and capped his distinguished career as the leading conservative jurist in the nation’s history.
“He has not forgotten his home, he has not forgotten his state, he has not forgotten his family,” State Senator Benjamin Watson said in presenting the legislation.
But Democrats were furious.
Democrats hated Clarence Thomas with a burning passion since President George H.W. Bush nominated Thomas to the Supreme Court in 1991.
Democrat Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Joe Biden tried to destroy Thomas’ nomination by creating a circus through Anita Hill’s false allegations of sexual harassment.
Thomas decried the Biden-led witch hunt as a “lynching for uppity blacks” and eventually beat back the smear campaign to win confirmation to the Supreme Court.
Democrats seethe about that to this day – mainly because liberals believe a high-profile conservative black man represents a grave threat to their political coalition which depends on winning around 90 percent of the black vote.
State Senate Democrats then attacked Thomas with a series of lies and conspiracy theories.
“State Sen. Nikki Merritt, a Grayson Democrat, said that while much of ‘white America’ touts Thomas, many Black Americans have taken issue with his opposition to affirmative action and his support for ‘gutting’ Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act, which had required Georgia and some other states with histories of voter suppression and racial gerrymandering to gain federal approval before changing their voting laws,” the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
But what enraged all fair-minded people was when State Senator Merritt smeared Thomas by calling Thomas a “traitor” to his race because Thomas doesn’t support affirmative action or a host of other left-wing policies.
“It’s not that we have a problem that he’s a conservative or that he’s a Republican. We think he’s a hypocrite and a traitor,” State Senator Merritt ranted.
Republicans attempted to shame Merritt for that racist attack on Justice Thomas.
“The story of Justice Thomas is a Georgia story,” State Senator Ben Strickland retorted. “It’s not one Supreme Court decision he wrote on in 30 years up there, not allegations tossed at him at hearings 30 years ago, not something his wife may have said to someone a couple years ago,” Strickland said. “The story of Clarence Thomas is the story of someone who rose from being from a city that was named and founded after freed slaves.”
When Clarence Thomas first emerged on the national scene liberals smeared him with lies about being a sexual predator.
Now three decades later Democrats are still besmirching Thomas’s character, but this time with racist taunts.
