Chuck Schumer got some bad news.
And it has major implications for the next election.
Now Chuck Schumer may lose his Senate seat as one Democrat turned on him.
Chuck Schumer is feeling the heat and the odds he will face a primary challenge from Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez increase every day West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin refuses to sign to eliminating the filibuster to ram H.R. 1 through the Senate with just 51 votes.
H.R.1 is the crown jewel of the Democrats’ socialist agenda.
This bill will cement a permanent Democrat majority and make it impossible for Republicans to ever win another election again.
H.R.1 mandates universal mail-in-voting and ballot harvesting in all 50 states, renders voter ID laws toothless, imposes automatic voter registration that allows illegal aliens to register to vote, makes it difficult for states to purge rolls of ineligible voters, puts unelected bureaucrats in charge of drawing congressional districts, and mandates that states count votes that arrive up to ten days after Election Day.
Republicans argue this bill is an invitation for massive voter fraud and a direct attack on democracy.
This is a pure power grab to put the Republican Party out of business and turn America into a one party state like Communist China or the old Soviet Union.
In his first press conference, Joe Biden even mused that the Republican Party may not exist in 2024.
But Democrats only have 49 co-sponsors of H.R. 1’s companion bill in the Senate.
Joe Manchin’s refused to sign on.
In a letter explaining why he would support H.R. 1, Manchin expressed concern over the bill federalizing elections and eliminating state control over the conduct of elections.
“There are some legitimate concerns about the implementation of the For the People Act,” Manchin wrote. “As a former Secretary of State, I know, firsthand, the importance of local decision-making around voter accessibility and election security.”
Without Joe Manchin’s vote, Democrats cannot eliminate the filibuster and this bill will fail.
The bill failing could lead to an energized primary challenge from Schumer’s left by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who has refused to rule out such an undertaking on multiple occasions.
Democrats have total power in Washington right now.
And their base sees a chance to ram a bill into law that will guarantee that Democrats never give up that power and which will allow this regime to rule America for generations.
They will not accept failure as an option.
If Schumer does not force Joe Manchin to back down he could be staring down the barrel of a primary challenge from one of the most famous Democrats in America.
But there is also every reason to believe Joe Manchin will vote with the Democrats in the end.
Manchin has more in common with Manhattan Democrats than West Virginia Democrats, and his word is not to be trusted.
Manchin won re-election in 2012 claiming to be a pro-gun conservative.
But just months after winning another term, Manchin turned around and schemed with Barack Obama to pass a national gun registration database into law.
So while Manchin opposes H.R.1 for now, Schumer will bring the weight of the world down on him to switch his vote knowing Manchin folds under pressure.
