Chuck Schumer is staring at the possibility of losing his job of Senate majority leader in next year’s midterm elections.
Now Schumer and the Democrats found out some more bad news.
And Chuck Schumer knew he was in deep trouble when people saw this scary crime.
Democrats cannot afford to lose even one Senate seat in 2022 or else Republicans will win back the majority.
Schumer and his allies targeted Wisconsin Republican Ron Johnson’s Senate seat as a possible pickup.
Any seats the Democrats flip makes it more difficult for Republicans to flip control of the Senate.
Democrats were already facing stiff headwinds due to Joe Biden’s big government spending pushing inflation higher.
Now Wisconsin Democrats will have to defend the party’s soft on crime stance.
Police took 39-year-old registered sex offender and long-time accused criminal Darrell Brooks into custody after Brooks killed five and wounded 40 in an intentional attack driving his SUV through a Waukesha, Wisconsin Christmas parade.
George Soros-backed Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm’s office released Brooks days before the attack even though Brooks faced charges of running a woman over with his car at a station on a $1,000 bail as part of a national effort by Democrat prosecutors to coddle criminals by eliminating cash bail.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports:
Darrell Brooks Jr., the man suspected of being the driver, has been charged three times in less than two years with recklessly endangering the safety of others, most recently on Nov. 5 as part of a domestic abuse incident for which he was also charged with resisting or obstructing an officer. In the case this month, a woman told police Brooks purposefully ran her “over with his vehicle” while she was walking through a gas station parking lot after he had followed her there after a fight, according to the criminal complaint. The woman was hospitalized for her injuries, court records show.
Brooks posted $1,000 bond on Nov. 11 in the most recent incident and was released from Milwaukee County Jail on Nov. 16, according to the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office. He also was charged in July 2020 with two felony counts of second-degree recklessly endangering the safety of others using a dangerous weapon.
In 2020 Republicans picked up 14 seats in the House of Representatives and won every single toss-up race on the map by painting Democrats as soft on crime after Democrats cheered on the Black Lives Matter riots and supported defunding the police.
Senate elections sometimes operate outside the national environment and can turn on issues specific to that individual race.
The race in Wisconsin figures to be one of the most competitive elections in the country next year.
And the Waukesha massacre just helped turn the election into a referendum on Ron Johnson and the GOP’s support for law and order against a Democrat challenger that the GOP will paint as soft on crime.
