Democrats sense political opportunity.
And liberals will never let a crisis go to waste.
And now Chuck Schumer is about to cut a secret deal with two Republicans that you won’t believe.
Gun grabbers pounce at the moment news breaks of a mass shooting.
Anti-gun leftists know their agenda of banning and confiscating firearms is a political loser so they wait for tragedies where their allies in the media can create a tidal wave of emotion to sweep away any Republican resistance to shredding the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Americans.
But in an uncharacteristic move, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer did not immediately put up gun control legislation for a vote to put pressure on wavering RINOs.
Instead, Schumer allowed anti-gun fanatic Connecticut Senator Chris Murphy to work behind the scenes to strike a bargain with anti-gun Republicans on gun grabs that could win 60 votes and break a filibuster.
“I think we need a little time to work on this. I understand the prospects for getting 60 votes are slim. They’re always slim. There’s a non-zero chance that we could get a compromise, and I’ve begun to talk to some of my colleagues about some ideas. Some old ideas, some new ideas. My hope is we can find some common ground here,” Senator Murphy declared.
Senator Murphy added he felt there was time to strike a deal with RINO Republicans that would disarm law-abiding Americans.
“I think we need to have conversations between members. I don’t think the Senate needs to be in session. We need some time to explore whether we have a route to 60 votes. And I think Sen. Schumer is committed to having a floor debate on this. I think he’s also committed to giving the time to try to find a path to 60,” Senator Murphy added.
It quickly became clear who Senator Murphy targeted.
Never Trumpers Pennsylvania Senator Pat Toomey and Utah Senator Mitt Romney – both of whom voted to impeach Donald Trump in the Democrats’ January 6 impeachment hoax – signaled their willingness to cut a deal on creating a national gun registration database scheme.
Toomey expressed a desire to resurrect the 2013 Toomey-Manchin bill that would have collected records of private gun sales.
“My interest in doing something to improve and expand our background checks system remains. I continue to have that interest. I do not have any significant update on the status of that or any other legislation to give you at this point,” Senator Toomey began.
“I think the thing that would have the best chance is the thing that has gotten Republican support before, which is expanding background checks. But I don’t know,” Senator Toomey added.
Mitt Romney – unsurprisingly – enthusiastically endorsed the idea of a national gun registration database.
Romney’s never met an assault on freedom proposed by the left that he won’t support and also told the press that he was willing to entertain backing red flag confiscation laws, which allow Barack Obama and Joe Biden-supporting judges to order government agents to barge into Americans’ homes and confiscate their firearms with no real due process of law.
“Background checks and updating our background check technology is something that I think is an appropriate federal responsibility. I’ll be looking at Toomey-Manchin and seeing how that would apply and whether or not I could support that or whether there might be some amendments to that that would make it more acceptable. I also think that red flag laws make a lot of sense. I think states are wise to adopt those. I think they’d have to be effectively administered at the state level,” Senator Romney declared.
It would take 10 Republicans to join with the Democrats to pass gun control.
Will eight more RINOs join Romney and Toomey and sell out their conservative voters to help Joe Biden disarm Americans and score a massive political win ahead of the midterm election?
