Reverend Franklin Graham is one of several religious leaders guiding the nation in prayer as President Trump takes office.
He and his father, Billy Graham, have often participated in prayer services at presidential inaugurations and other events.
And as Donald Trump begins his term as the 45th President of the United States, Franklin Graham made this fascinating statement about Trump and the state of our country.
Graham said God was changing the direction of the country in electing Donald Trump.
Rev. Franklin Graham, one of six faith leaders praying at President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration, said Thursday he had sensed all during the election season that God was “getting ready to do something to change the direction” of the nation as Trump pushed his way to winning the White House.
“I went to all 50 states this year,” Graham, the son of Rev. Billy Graham, told Fox News’ “Fox & Friends” program. “I saw God begin to do something as I went across the country. People came and confessed the sins of our nation out loud before God and the country. They confessed their sins. They didn’t come to hear me. They came to pray.”
Graham went on to discuss the rising divisions in our country under President Obama: increased racial tensions, economic worries, and Democratic leadership deciding not to support their new Commander-in-Chief.
“I think we have continued to be divided more during his presidency,” said Graham. “It’s got to be reversed. The only way I know for it to be reversed is if we begin to pray and whether African-American churches, Anglo churches, pray for this nation.”
The tradition of religious leaders leading the invocation and benediction at presidential inaugurations stems from the idea that we are “One Nation Under God.”
Graham believes that God has seen that the country is in the worst shape it has been in decades, and a Hillary Clinton presidency would have continued the status quo.
Against all odds, Donald Trump was elected because the American people were desperate for change, and a hope that they could prosper under new leadership.
During the presidential campaign last summer, Franklin Graham was active in traveling across the nation spreading a message of the need for change, unity, and prayer for our future.
His “Decision America Tour” traveled to all 50 states, calling on Christians from all walks of life to become more involved in the political process in order to save a nation in desperate trouble.
He spoke of the need for all Americans to work to change the liberal culture that has become so prevalent in our nation today — abortion, pride, materialism, and the liberal media’s glorification of sex and violence.
Newsmax reported in July of 2016:
The Rev. Franklin Graham said, ” I am appealing to all Americans to pray” because “this nation is in serious trouble.”
“We need a president who can lead this nation back to being one nation under God so that we can truly say ‘In God we trust!'” he said. “May God bless America again.”
Franklin Graham stands by President Trump and said he was honored to be a part of the inaugural ceremonies.
“It’s a great privilege to be able to stand with the president and to be able to stand before the nation and focus on God for a few minutes,” Graham said.
As the country ushers in a new era under President Trump and his administration, Graham asks all Americans to continue to pray for our leaders and each other.
God has given the nation an opportunity for hope and change, but Franklin Graham reminds us to do our part as citizens to make the country great again — by working and praying together.
