It’s no secret the liberal mainstream media has gone to many lengths to discredit President Donald Trump, both during the general election and now since taking office.
They have let the lawlessness of the Obama administration slide, and continue to cry foul over the treatment of their golden child, Hillary Clinton.
But now one of their own is taking the media to task for ignoring the facts of actions taken by the Obama administration in their quest to destroy Donald Trump.
Conservative talk radio host Mark Levin first reported on the alleged wiretapping of Trump Tower during the presidential election, and is calling out the media for their hypocrisy in dismissing the allegations.
Levin first reported on the alleged electronic eavesdropping last week, and when President Donald Trump got wind of it, he tweeted about it over the weekend, demanding answers.
While the leftist mainstream media is slamming Levin for his unprofessionalism, Levin pushes to get to the bottom of the allegations, as is his duty as a journalist.
Breitbart reported on Levin’s comments in response to criticism from leftist mainstream media outlets:
“I simply put together the stories that YOUR profession reported, on the public record,” Levin wrote. “Do you deny there were two FISA applications Do you deny the first was turned down? Do you deny the second was approved? It’s called the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court. It is about surveillance.”
Levin is a lawyer and worked as the chief of staff for Attorney General Edwin Meese during the Reagan administration.
Even former Obama administration officials are sending mixed messages about whether wiretapping of Trump could have occurred.
They have said “neither Obama nor the White House ordered it,” but have not outright denied that it did happen, either.
The mainstream media is ignoring the facts that certain actions were taken by the Obama administration — actions that would be impossible to occur without the knowledge of the former president and his staff.
Levin says the media needs to get to the bottom of the accusations after discovering several steps taken by the Obama administration over the course of the last year to initiate wiretaps on Trump and his associates.
Breitbart reports on the timeline of the process undertaken by the Obama government, beginning in June of 2016 with a FISA (Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court) request, and continuing through January of this year with expansion of FISA sharing prior to Trump’s inauguration.
[In October 2016], the Obama administration submits a new, narrow request to the FISA court, now focused on a computer server in Trump Tower suspected of links to Russian banks. No evidence is found — but the wiretaps continue, ostensibly for national security reasons. The Obama administration is now monitoring an opposing presidential campaign using the high-tech surveillance powers of the federal intelligence services.
In summary: the Obama administration sought, and eventually obtained, authorization to eavesdrop on the Trump campaign; continued monitoring the Trump team even when no evidence of wrongdoing was found; then relaxed the NSA rules to allow evidence to be shared widely within the government, virtually ensuring that the information, including the conversations of private citizens, would be leaked to the media.
Levin called the effort a “silent coup” by the Obama administration and demanded that it be investigated.
In addition, Levin castigated Republicans in Congress for focusing their attention on Trump and Attorney General Sessions rather than Obama.
Left-wing members of Congress and even some Republicans are dismissing these allegations as nothing but a distraction, but Levin continues to push for the truth.
