Law enforcement officers are tasked with keeping American neighborhoods safe and are often the first line of defense when something goes wrong.
While police officers are trained to use force when necessary, they often rely on their discernment to know when to draw their weapon, when to fire, and when to resist.
But thanks to the “Black Lives Matter” movement, everything has changed.
There’s a sweeping new trend taking place at police stations across the country, deemed the “Ferguson Effect”.
Named after the shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, the “Ferguson Effect” is changing the way law enforcement officers act and react to potential life threatening situations.
Because of the “Ferguson Effect”, law enforcement officers are hesitant to draw their weapon, fearing the backlash of the Black Lives Matter activists and national scrutiny.
Once relying on their judgment and training, fearful officers are now put in the unthinkable position of not being able to draw their weapon to protect themselves or others.
Breitbart reports:
“A female Chicago police officer did not use her service pistol to defend herself while she was being beaten to the point of unconsciousness because, “She didn’t want her family or the department to go through the scrutiny the next day on national news,” Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson told the Chicago Tribune in September 2016. “(S)he looked at me and said she thought she was gonna die, and she knew that she should shoot this guy, but she chose not to.” Two other officers were also injured while apprehending the suspect in question.”
But police officers aren’t the only ones at risk by the “Ferguson Effect”.
Innocent bystanders are now endangered, as officers are hesitant to stop and question a suspicious person in fear of the backlash that could follow.
And thanks to Black Lives Matter, it’s more dangerous than ever to be a police officer in America.
Black Lives Matter activists have stormed the streets, making their hatred of police officers known.
As American Patriot Daily previously reported, law enforcement officers are being targeted by Black Lives Matter activists, and even getting killed.
And according to Breitbart, the number of law enforcement officers shot and killed continues to rise.
Breitbart reports:
“The 61 percent increase in law enforcement officers shot and killed in 2016 versus 2015 and a 53 percent overall increase in officers murdered in the performance of duty are deeply troubling statistics,” ODMP Director of Research Steven Weiss told Breitbart Texas at the time. “Included in that statistic is a disturbing increase in officers killed in ‘ambush-style’ murders, such as the incidents in Dallas and Des Moines.”
But even though they face danger, law enforcement officers are still holding back.
Black Lives Matter activists are taking full advantage of the cops’ resistance to draw their weapons, and are proudly using leftist Alinsky tactics to back law enforcement officials into a corner.
With officers hesitant to use force when needed, Black Lives Matter activists are free to ramp up their violent protests.
Breitbart continues:
“Officers “don’t want to become the next YouTube video,” Fraternal Order of Police President Dean Angelo told the Chicago Tribune. “If you participate in a deadly force situation you can save your life, but in 2016, you can lose your job.”
Do you think the “Ferguson Effect” is changing the way police officers operate?
Do you support law enforcement using deadly force for self-defense and the protection of innocent bystanders?
