Andrew Cuomo thought that fudging his coronavirus numbers would stop a scandal.
But soon he will have nowhere to hide.
Andrew Cuomo gasped in horror when William Barr sent him this demand.
According to the mainstream media and Dr. Fauci, New York is a “shining” example of how the coronavirus outbreak should be handled.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo claimed during the Democratic National Convention that the way he handled the pandemic, which left more dead in his state than any other, “was beautiful.”
Yet Cuomo has rejected independent investigation into his nursing home policies.
“I wouldn’t do an investigation whether or not it’s political, everybody can make that decision for themselves,” Cuomo said. “I think you’d have to be blind to realize it’s not political.”
Cuomo’s policy that made it mandatory for nursing homes to take in patients who were still contagious with coronavirus could be considered one of the single greatest failures of America’s coronavirus response.
And while New York has reported over 6,600 deaths in nursing homes due to coronavirus, the highest number of nursing home deaths in the nation, and they are only reporting a fraction of the deaths.
The New York State Department of Health only reports nursing home deaths as residents of nursing homes who died on nursing home property and doesn’t include residents who were transferred to the hospital before death.
Now the Justice Department is looking for answers on the actual numbers and is demanding that New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, all which have Democrat governors, hand over their data as the DOJ is considering launching a large investigation.
“Today the Justice Department requested COVID-19 data from the governors of states that issued orders which may have resulted in the deaths of thousands of elderly nursing home residents,” the Justice Department announced in a statement Wednesday.
The Justice Department is looking at these four states in particular because they allowed nursing homes to admit patients who had tested positive for the coronavirus.
“The data will inform the decision by the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division whether to launch an investigation under the federal Civil Rights of Institutionalized Persons Act, which protects the civil rights of people in state-run nursing homes,” the Washington Examiner reported.
If Cuomo’s response to coronavirus was as wonderful as Democrats claim, why is he trying to hide his numbers?
Cuomo has gone out of his way to say that “nobody” should be prosecuted over the nursing home deaths, saying the elderly were “always going to die from this virus.”
Hopefully the DOJ will look closely at the results that these Democratic state policies had on the mortality rate in their nursing homes and make sure that they are accountable for the failures.
