The Democrats and their allies crossed a major line.
Republicans were searching for a way to fight back.
And then all hell broke loose when Donald Trump said these two magic words.
Major League Baseball caved to the demands of Joe Biden and the woke mob by announcing it would move the 2021 All-Star Game and Entry Draft out of Atlanta.
Baseball cited the left-wing lies about an election integrity bill signed by Georgia Governor Brian Kemp as the basis for their decision.
This was just the latest example of Democrats enlisting corporate America to exercise a veto over the democratic process by threatening economic blackmail.
Georgia-based Coca-Cola and Delta Airlines also jumped on the bandwagon attacking the idea of voter ID after either saying nothing about the bill or initially praising its passing.
Democrats know they hold the hammer in all cultural and business institutions and are eager to wield that leverage to crush the will of voters in red states and force Republicans to live in a society where corporate elites enforce the Democrats’ policy preferences even if the voters reject the left’s agenda.
But baseball and the left clearly overstepped in this case.
They pushed Republicans too far and generated a backlash that they never expected.
Donald Trump showed Republicans the way to fight back.
Trump released a statement ripping baseball for caving in to the radical left and their attacks on election integrity.
“Baseball is already losing a tremendous number of fans, and now they leave Atlanta with their All-Star Game because they are afraid of the Radical Left Democrats who do not want voter I.D., which is desperately needed, to have anything to do with our elections,” former President Trump wrote.
Trump instructed conservatives to “boycott baseball” and other woke companies that attack their values in the name of serving the left’s agenda.
“Boycott baseball and all of the woke companies that are interfering with Free and Fair Elections,” Trump continued. “Are you listening, Coke, Delta, and all!”
Republicans quickly picked up on Trump’s lead.
Texas Senator Ted Cruz tweeted out a link of Major League Baseball’s 75 corporate sponsors in the hopes of generating backlash and boycotts against these companies for supporting an attack on election integrity.
“These are MLB’s corporate sponsors, who pressured to pull the All Star game out of Atlanta,” Senator Cruz wrote. “Do all of them oppose voter ID? Are all of them willing to be the woke enforcers of the corrupt Democratic Party? And do all hate the 75m who voted for Trump?”
There is evidence this will work.
Donald Trump is correct that baseball and sports are losing their fan base due to political protests.
A recent Yahoo/YouGov poll found 35 percent of Americans watched fewer sports because of all the left-wing social justice politics that now infect the game compared to just 11 percent who watch more because they enjoy the woke politics.
