Democrats hate when there is any accountability for their own side.
Even when they are putting lives in danger.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez went wild with rage at this huge step Elon Musk took.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) had a meltdown when Elon Musk, the Twitter CEO, suspended the accounts of several high-profile journalists, due to a crackdown on those who track the location of private jets.
“You’re a public figure. An extremely controversial and powerful one,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. “I get feeling unsafe, but descending into abuse of power + erratically banning journalists only increases the intensity around you. Take a beat and lay off the proto-fascism. Maybe try putting down your phone.”
Accounts that were suspended included former Vox journalist Aaron Rupar, CNN reporter Donie O’Sullivan, New York Times reporter Ryan Mac, Washington Post reporter Drew Harwell, The Intercept journalist Micah Lee, and hardcore leftist Keith Olbermann.
Mike Solana, editor-in-chief of Pirate Wires, wrote on Twitter: “So far, I’ve been able to confirm about half the accounts suspended posted links to the jet tracker thing in violation of the new doxxing policy. Unclear just yet about the rest, but I think it’s safe to say the rule is for real.”
Musk responded to Solana’s tweet by writing: “Same doxxing rules apply to ‘journalists’ as to everyone else.”
“They posted my exact real-time location, basically assassination coordinates, in (obvious) direct violation of Twitter terms of service,” Musk continued.
“Criticizing me all day long is totally fine, but doxxing my real-time location and endangering my family is not,” Musk later added.
EU commissioner Vera Jourova said that Twitter may face sanctions for allegedly failing to protect media freedom.
“[The] EU’s Digital Services Act requires respect of media freedom and fundamental rights. This is reinforced under our Media Freedom Act,” she wrote on Twitter.
“Elon Musk should be aware of that. There are red lines. And sanctions, soon,” the EU commissioner said, adding that “news about arbitrary suspension of journalists on Twitter is worrying.”
CNN said it will “reevaluate” its relationship with Twitter after CNN’s Donie O’Sullivan was suspended.
“The impulsive and unjustified suspension of a number of reporters, including CNN’s Donie O’Sullivan, is concerning but not surprising,” CNN’s communications team said in a statement.
“Twitter’s increasing instability and volatility should be of incredible concern for everyone who uses the platform. We have asked Twitter for an explanation, and we will reevaluate our relationship based on that response,” the statement added.
The left of course is perfectly happy with journalists being censored. The EU had no problem when Twitter censored the Hunter Biden story, neither did Ocasio-Cortez, they just think that they should be able to say whatever they want even when it’s sharing private locations.
