Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez may have done it this time.
Ocasio-Cortez’s rising star status and social media prowess may not be enough to bail her out this time.
And that’s because Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez crossed a big line with these five words to Ted Cruz.
For all the talk of “unity” coming out of Joe Biden’s mouth, a series of events actually appeared to bring socialist Democrats and conservative Republicans together.
Both Ted Cruz and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez expressed outrage over the retail trading app Robinhood blocking users from trading stocks like Gamestop and AMC after readers of the internet forum Reddit banded together to purchase their stock to drive up the price after Wall Street hedge funds tried to destroy the companies by short-selling their stock.
The fat cats took a bath and the little guy appeared to win one.
But then Robinhood and other apps showed the game was rigged and changed the rules midstream to protect billionaire hedge fund owners’ profits by blocking trading on these stocks.
Ted Cruz tweeted at Ocasio-Cortez that he agreed with her call for investigations and accountability.
But Ocasio-Cortez proved the “unity” line was just a campaign trail talking point by refusing to work with Cruz and falsely accusing him of trying to kill her.
“I am happy to work with Republicans on this issue where there’s common ground, but you almost had me murdered 3 weeks ago so you can sit this one out,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote. “Happy to work w/ almost any other GOP that aren’t trying to get me killed. In the meantime if you want to help, you can resign.”
AOC baselessly accused Cruz of inciting the January 6 riot by exercising his lawful and constitutional authority to challenge the results of the Electoral College in Arizona.
“You haven’t even apologized for the serious physical + mental harm you contributed to from Capitol Police & custodial workers to your own fellow members of Congress. In the meantime, you can get off my timeline & stop clout-chasing. Thanks,” Ocasio-Cortez continued.
Cruz responded that Ocasio-Cortez’s tweets were “partisan anger” and “not healthy for our country.”
Ocasio-Cortez was determined to show that Democrats were not intent on unity at all and just wanted to cancel Republicans.”What does he think the logical response to his lies should be? A hug? Maybe there’s anger bc his actions deserve accountability,” Ocasio-Cortez shot back.
That was not the end of the story though.
Ocasio-Cortez was not content to call a senator from the opposing party a potential killer, but she went even further claiming members of the House GOP caucus were actual white supremacists.
“It really felt that, last term, the Republican caucus was one of extreme fealty to Donald Trump,” Ocasio-Cortez claimed on MSNBC. “There were some that were true believers, others that simply remained quiet out of cowardice and out of fear of the president’s retribution. But this term there are legitimate white supremacist sympathizers that sit at the heart and at the core of the Republican caucus in the House of Representatives.”
