A bombshell video is going to cause major problems for Fox executives.
They never saw the latest crisis coming.
And this whistleblower is about to expose something terrible about Fox News.
Fox 26 reporter Ivory Hecker in Houston was about to begin a routine live shot reporting on the heat wave sweeping the state and the urgent need for air conditioner repairmen to complete their work.
But this local news segment was anything but ordinary as Hecker quickly made clear.
Before Hecker got to her story, Hecker dropped the bombshell that she had been working for the watchdog group Project Veritas, and that she had been secretly recording her colleagues and bosses.
Hecker also dropped the bombshell that Fox Corp.—the parent company that owns Fox News—had muzzled her reporting.
“Before we get to that story, I want to let you the viewers know that Fox Corp. has been muzzling me to keep certain information from you the viewers. And from what I’m gathering, I am not the only reporter being subjected to this. I am going to be releasing some recordings about what goes on behind the scenes at Fox because it applies to you the viewers. I found a nonprofit journalism group called Project Veritas that’s gonna help put that out tomorrow, so tune into them. But as for this heat wave across Texas, you can see what it’s doing to AC units,” Hecker stated.
Project Veritas is known as a conservative group that usually trains its undercover journalism on the left.
The group’s most famous takedown occurred in 2009 when founder James O’Keefe pretended to be a pimp and took down the left-wing community organizing group ACORN.
ACORN lost all federal funding as a result of O’Keefe’s sting and O’Keefe became a star on the right.
Fox News viewers—and probably Fox Corp. executives—would be surprised to see a figure so closely associated with the conservative movement target Fox News.
But after the 2020 election Fox News lost a chunk of its audience by rejecting Donald Trump’s claims that massive fraud stole the election, and also acknowledging Joe Biden’s win.
Some of those viewers came back to the network.
However, Donald Trump will still complain about the coverage on Fox News Channel, most often singling out registered Democrat “Fox News Sunday” host Chris Wallace for criticism.
Regardless of what one thinks about the 2020 election or the outcome, there is no question Fox News alienated a segment of its base.
Hecker’s sting operation targeting the parent company that owns Fox News could be part of the fallout of Fox’s coverage of the 2020 presidential election.
