Fox News has been undergoing some major changes over the last several months.
But the audience got some bad news.
A top Fox News host stunned viewers into silence with these four words.
“Fox News Sunday” host Chris Wallace is a registered Democrat and Trump antagonist.
And Wallace rode to the defense of Dr. Anthony Fauci after published emails showed Dr. Fauci covering up the idea the coronavirus leaked from a lab in Communist China and also downplaying the effectiveness of masks in stopping the spread of the coronavirus.
Wallace prefaced his defense of Dr. Fauci by first defending Donald Trump from attacks by many in the so-called “public health community” and corporate media calling Trump a conspiracy theorist for supporting the lab leak origin story.
“When Donald Trump — back when he was president — suggested that China may have played a role in it, that it wasn’t a naturally occurring virus, I think there was a knee-jerk reaction from some Democrats, from some people in the media, to say, ‘Well, if Trump says this is a possibility, it can’t be a possibility,’” Wallace began.
“We absolutely need to find out what the basis for the origins of Covid are,” Wallace continued.
But Wallace then launched into a defense of Dr. Fauci claiming “there’s no smoking gun” contained in the emails published by BuzzFeed and the Washington Post.
“I’ve read reports and read through a number of the e-mails. There’s no smoking gun there that indicates that Fauci had any reason to believe this had came from… the Wuhan virology laboratory. I’ll answer the question, even though Jen Psaki wouldn’t — this is highly political. I can promise you,” Wallace began.
There was one email from late January 2020 from scientist Kristian Anderson informing Fauci that elements of the coronavirus looked like they were engineered.
And Fauci had to have known the Wuhan Institute of Virology was located a stone’s throw from where the outbreak began and that researchers in the facility were performing tests on coronaviruses.
Judicial Watch obtained 280 pages of documents from the Department of Health and Human Services showing that from 2014 to 2019, the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases—which Dr. Fauci heads—funneled over $800,000 in taxpayer money to the Wuhan Institute of Virology for research on bat coronaviruses.
Wallace attacked Trump and other Republicans critical of Fauci by claiming Fauci spent nearly 40 years in government service.
“You’re seeing it as a major talking point from Republicans. I think that when Donald Trump speaks tomorrow night in North Carolina, you’re going to see him go after Fauci. Let’s just remember. Anthony Fauci has been on the firing lines trying to protect Americans from public health issues since the mid-80s with AIDS. And before we start calling for his head, this guy who’s been a devoted public servant for 40 years, maybe we ought to slow down just a little bit,” Wallace added.
