The corporate media’s narrative about Fox News just collapsed.
This time the bad news came from an unlikely source.
And this top CNN decision-maker’s confession about Fox News will devastate Democrats.
John Malone is a board member and leading shareholder for Discovery,Inc.
Malone reportedly put together the deal to combine Discovery, Inc. – home of Discovery Channel, the Food Network, TLC and the Travel Channel among others – and CNN after WarnerMedia decided to spin off the low-rated and struggling left-wing propaganda network.
What Malone says matters for the future of CNN.
And in an appearance on CNBC’s “Squawk Box,” Malone offered an unexpected plan to turn around CNN.
Malone told anchor David Faber that CNN needed to be more like Fox News and perform actual journalism citing “Special Report” hosts Bret Baier and Brit Hume as the type of hard news anchors CNN on-air talent should emulate.
“Fox News, in my opinion, has followed an interesting trajectory of trying to have news news, I mean some actual journalism, embedded in a program schedule of all opinions,” Malone stated. “And I think they’ve been relatively successful with a service like Bret Baier, and Brit Hume before him, that try to distinguish news from opinion.”
Malone expressed frustration with the current CNN method of left-wing radicals like Brian Stelter, Brianna Keilar, Don Lemon, Chris Cuomo and every other anchor pretending to be journalists but in reality carrying on Democrat Party propagandists.
“I would like to see CNN evolve back to the kind of journalism that it started with, and actually have journalists, which would be unique and refreshing,” Malone added.
Malone wants good journalism – which is why he put together the Discovery, Inc./CNN merger.
“I do believe good journalism could have a role in this future portfolio that Discovery-TimeWarner’s going to represent,” Malone added.
For the last five years CNN anchors – led by so-called “chief” media correspondent Brian Stelter – painted Fox News as a “state media” and claimed Fox constructed an alternate reality for viewers whereas CNN dealt in truth and facts.
John Malone – who is one of the legendary names in cable TV – punctured that falsehood on live television that CNN failed to perform basic journalism and that Fox News was a channel that produced the type of quality reporting CNN should strive for.
As the leading shareholder for Discovery, Inc. Malone’s views carry a lot of weight and do not speak well for the future of network president and left-wing activist Jeff Zucker.
CNN and other corporate media outlets routinely label Fox News as “misinformation” and ruthlessly pressure social media companies to censor conservatives because liberal partisans in the corporate media want to limit the choices of news consumers only to outlets that promote the Democrat Party’s talking points and narratives.
If CNN shifts to an actual news outlet it will deprive the left of a reliable propaganda outlet.
But CNN needs to make a change.
In October just two programs drew more than one million viewers.
CNN’s ratings collapsed following Donald Trump leaving office.
John Malone knows CNN needs to make a change to rebuild its audience.
And Malone believes that change is emulating Fox News and conducting journalism as opposed to Democrat Party advocacy.
