Donald Trump got some bad news about his upcoming impeachment trial.
It came from an unexpected source.
And this surprising witness just testified against Donald Trump on impeachment.
For two years the fake news media blasted Attorney General William Barr as a Trump sycophant that shoved aside the rule of law and instead worked to align the Department of Justice with Donald Trump’s personal goals.
But now the liberal press is singing a different tune.
Now that Barr is out of office, he is a truth-telling Trump critic blowing the whistle on just how dangerous Donald Trump supposedly was.
And with the Senate set to kick off Donald Trump’s impeachment trial on February 9, Democrats may enter Barr’s interview with ITV News where the former Attorney General blamed Trump for provoking the January 6 riot at the Capitol as evidence to push the Senate to convict Trump.
In the interview Barr called the images from the Capitol “sad” but explained that he was “not surprised to see the kind of violence we saw.”
“Regardless of which side of the political spectrum is involved, we just cannot tolerate violence interfering with the processes of government,” Barr added.
Barr claimed that Trump’s claims of election fraud destroyed faith in the legitimacy of election.
The former Attorney General declared that Donald Trump created an environment where violence was “inevitable” but that “I think that when you start suppressing free speech, when people lose confidence in the media, and also when they lose faith in the integrity of elections – you are going to have some people resort to violence.”
Barr condemned the rioters as out of control Trump supporters looking for opponents to fight.
“It was just starting – people attacking, people wearing Trump hats, and things like that. You had the Proud Boys who were on the right, fighting the Antifa who were on the left,” Barr added.
The former Attorney General went so far as to compare the Trump supporters at the riot to al Qaeda and other Islamic terrorists.
“There is obviously some commonality because many of the people that get involved in this are people who have problems – psychological problems or problems with their socialization,”former Attorney General Barr continued.
Barr thought that the sad, lonely lives of Trump supporters provided a fertile recruiting ground for extremist groups the same way Islamic terrorist groups like ISIS and al Qaeda dip into a pool of disillusioned young Muslim men with little prospects of achieving economic success.
“So to that extent, the raw material of extremism may be similar,” Barr declared.
Barr sounded like many in the left that now want to equate Trump supporters with domestic terrorism.
Trump and Barr clearly parted on bad terms.
As a long-time creature of Washington, Barr knew an impeachment trial was coming up and Barr provided the Democrats fodder to use his interview in the trial to try and persuade Republicans to convict the President by stating that “even William Barr agrees with us.”
