There is an old saying that everything that happens in an election year is about the election.
Americans were reminded of that after a growing movement on the left to force Fox News to fire Tucker Carlson.
Now a Democrat senator picked a fight with Tucker Carlson that hinted at this major change.
Illinois Senator Tammy Duckworth became embroiled in a feud with Tucker Carlson.
Carlson blasted Duckworth as a “moron” and explained to his viewers that Duckworth admitting she was willing to listen to the arguments made by rioters abut tearing down statues of George Washington meant she hated America.
“A national dialogue, please,” Carlson stated. “They are not looking for any kind of colloquy. What they want is a soliloquy. We speak, you shut up and listen. … It’s long been considered out of bounds to question a person’s patriotism. It’s a very strong charge, and we try not ever to make it. But in the face of all of this, the conclusion can’t be avoided. These people actually hate America.”
Fake news “CNN Newsroom” host Brianna Keilar interviewed Duckworth about Carlson’s comments and Duckworth tried to claim that her status as a wounded combat veteran insulated her from criticism.
“When you love the Constitution, and you love this country as much as I do, so much so that you’re willing to lay down your life to protect and defend her, then you must agree to defend the rights of the likes of Tucker Carlson to lie about you. I truly believe in freedom of speech. That it’s enshrined in the Constitution,” Duckworth told Keilar.
Keilar lobbed a softball to Duckworth about why she thought Carlson singled her out for criticism and Duckworth claimed Carlson was a racist that hates diversity.
“I think he singled me out because I’m Asian American and I look different. Asian Americans have always been the other in our society,” Duckworth added.
Duckworth even falsely claimed Carlson spoke the language of white supremacy.
“He doesn’t want America to be as diverse as it should be. In fact, he used I think 10 words of the white supremacy statement on that. So, this is what they do. They go after your strength,” Duckworth concluded.
Duckworth firing back at Carlson on fake news CNN was an audition for her as Joe Biden’s vice presidential running mate.
Since Biden said he would pick a woman as his running mate, Duckworth’s gender, military service and Asian heritage check many of the identity politics boxes Biden would look for in a potential running mate.
What Duckworth needs to prove is if she could handle the role of television attack dog.
