The election of President Donald Trump has been the worst thing ever to happen to CNN.
After hedging all their bets on Hillary Clinton winning, they have lost all credibility.
And now the fake news network could be forced to close their doors after getting unthinkable news.
There is no “news” network that spent more time pushing the fake Russia collusion conspiracy theory than CNN.
For the first two years of Trump’s presidency, they looked at Robert Mueller like a saint who could do no wrong.
But after the release of his report, which exonerated President Trump from allegations of Russia collusion, they were proven as fake news merchants, and nothing more.
Since the release of his report, they have been hemorrhaging viewers at an unthinkable rate.
They are now the lowest rated of the major news networks, with Fox News getting more than triple their primetime viewers on a regular basis.
And their decreasing viewership is not slowing down.
In fact, the latest reporting shows that their primetime viewership just hit a three year low.
While Fox News averaged 2.2 million primetime viewers over the Thanksgiving holiday, and MSNBC averaged 1.3 million primetime viewers, CNN averaged a measly 643,000 primetime viewers.
So Americans clearly tuned out of CNN over Thanksgiving, realizing that the network isn’t really “news,” but is instead anti-Trump propaganda.
It is very telling that this noticeable drop comes during the impeachment efforts against President Trump.
As the premier anti-Trump network, the fact that they don’t hold a bigger share of viewers during such a pivotal moment for the anti-Trump resistance is bad news for Democrats.
And while their overall viewership was low enough, they also took their most noticeable hit with the vitally important 25-54 demographic, with just 138,000 average viewers.
In comparison, MSNBC had 187,000 in that demographic, and Fox News had 303,000.
That number is so bad for CNN that it is the lowest rate they have ever recorded.
Without a strong showing among that demographic, any news network is doomed to fail.
The 25-54 demographic is the future of any network, and something that investors look to as a future signifier, and advertisers take very seriously when purchasing advertisements.
When their viewers take a significant drop like this, it hits them on their bottom line.
And CNN has been dealing with a lot of problems with money as of late.
In fact, the network was forced to make serious cuts in recent months.
They cut 100 employees from their Atlanta headquarters and virtually gutted all of their operations at their London office.
Things are becoming less and less profitable at CNN.
And with such rapidly anti-Trump anchors like Brian Stelter and Chris Cuomo, it isn’t surprising.
While Fox News surely has its problems, with many of their anchors mirroring the same CNN talking points, they at least have a few fair voices.
And those voices are their most viewed shows on their network, with Sean Hannity and Tucker Carlson consistently coming in at their number one and two spots in viewership.
Do you think CNN should close their doors for good?
