Judge Jeanine Pirro has long been one of President Trump’s closest allies.
But now Pirro is facing a moment of truth.
And Trump set off a shockwave with this answer about firing Jeanine Pirro.
President Trump refused to answer if he wouldn’t fire U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro after Pirro’s office dropped vandalism charges against former Olympian David Hearn over damage to the reflecting pool that Trump refurbished.
Pirro moved to dismiss the charges against Hearn after claiming the damage was due to poor installation.
Trump told reporters he still believed vandalism was the culprit.
“And everybody saw the vandalism,” Trump stated. “All you have to do is look at the tape. If you look at the tape– plus, we have a witness or two witnesses that saw the vandalism. So, certainly, there was vandalism. It was actually, in my opinion, it was major vandalism. And I told her I was not happy.”
“Is she safe?” a reporter wondered. “Are you gonna keep her in the position?”
Trump wouldn’t answer that.
“Uh,” Trump responded. “I haven’t decided.”
The reflecting pool was a source of pride for Trump in his second term, and the President took Pirro dismissing the case against Hearn as a personal affront.
Trump reportedly summoned Pirro to the Oval Office and “read her the riot act” over the decision to drop the charges.
Mediaite reported that “The meeting quickly grew heated as Trump confronted Pirro over the handling of the case. Two sources briefed on the meeting said the president yelled at the U.S. attorney and “read her the riot act,” though he ultimately did not fire her or ask for her resignation.”
Trump made his displeasure with Pirro known on social media and to reporters.
“I disagree 100% with Jeanine Pirro, the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, on the Reflecting Pool. I don’t know what she was thinking. To me, it was a pure case of VANDALISM that included the grass, which had a big 86 47 emblazoned in giant letters on it, and other elements of the surrounding area. There may have been some contractor difficulty, but the major damage was caused by VANDALS!” Trump posted on Truth Social.
During an Oval Office event, Trump blasted Pirro, saying she “choked” and “folded like an umbrella” by dropping the case.
“Frankly, I think she choked,” Trump declared. “Because the judge was really vicious. Instead of going after the people that did it, the judge went after her and went after her department, and I guess she choked. I don’t know what the hell happened.”
Trump and Pirro have been friends going back decades.
It is unlikely Trump will fire Pirro.
But no one will be surprised if Pirro quietly resigns after the midterm election if Republicans keep control of the Senate.
