The buzz around Donald Trump running for president in 2024 grows louder every day.
But Trump learned some bad news.
Donald Trump just found out he may be kept off the 2024 ballot by this sneaky decision.
Every major social media platform banned Donald Trump after the events of January 6.
If Donald Trump doesn’t have access to social media platforms in 2024 it will be impossible to mount a campaign as his Democrat opponent will hold a massive advantage in being able to communicate with voters.
Social media companies banning Trump means Trump would be at the mercy of corporate media outlets to relay news about Trump to the public and that will always be framed through the filter that Trump is a lying, racist, seditionist.
Facebook is laying the groundwork to try and fool Americans into thinking that Trump will have access to their platform and be able to run ads, but in reality restricting his access to the point where no one sees the Trump campaign’s content.
The Facebook “Supreme Court” recently ruled that Facebook could not indefinitely suspend Donald Trump.
But Facebook just announced a new policy that paves the way for the social media giant to claim they are not “banning” conservatives by allowing Trump on while at the same restricting his reach to essentially zero people.
A new Facebook policy allows the company to reduce the reach of any page that repeatedly posts “misinformation.”
“Starting today, we will reduce the distribution of all posts in News Feed from an individual’s Facebook account if they repeatedly share content that has been rated by one of our fact-checking partners. We already reduce a single post’s reach in News Feed if it has been debunked,” Facebook’s policy announcement read.
This change would allow Facebook—which employs a bevy of left-leaning “fact checkers”—to claim all of Trump’s posts are “misinformation” and demote his reach.
Facebook could do this even if Trump is posting information that is true.
Up until very recently, Facebook removed all posts claiming that the coronavirus escaped from the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
Donald Trump began promoting this idea last spring saying he saw intelligence that backed up the lab leak theory.
Under this Facebook policy, Facebook could have silenced Trump by reducing the reach of his page to zero by claiming Trump spread “misinformation” by posting about COVID-19 originating in the Wuhan Institute of Virology even though Facebook later admitted this was no longer misinformation.
Facebook’s new policy would not just be targeted at Trump.
Anyone that shares posts by pages that get whacked for misinformation would then be flagged so Facebook could technically censor Trump supporters for sharing Trump’s posts.
“We currently notify people when they share content that a fact-checker later rates, and now we’ve redesigned these notifications to make it easier to understand when this happens. The notification includes the fact-checker’s article debunking the claim as well as a prompt to share the article with their followers. It also includes a notice that people who repeatedly share false information may have their posts moved lower in News Feed so other people are less likely to see them,” Facebook’s new policy read.
If Donald Trump cannot post or run ads on Facebook then Trump cannot run for president.
Tech companies are the public square in 21st century America where you can reach broad swaths of the electorate with mass messaging.
Critics contend that Facebook just cooked up a backdoor policy to try and keep Trump off the 2024 ballot without directly banning Trump from the platform.
