The latest Democratic challenger to President Trump just launched his campaign with one outrageous comment.
And now he’s in hot water like never before.
This Democrat is about to regret every word of his attack on the President.
The Democratic primary field is crowded with irrelevant and random candidates who have little to no shot at being the nominee, much less defeating President Trump in the 2020 election.
But that isn’t stopping some Democrats from trying.
Enter Seth Moulton, a Democratic Congressman from Massachusetts who just became the latest candidate to enter the increasingly crowded primary field.
But Congressman Moulton, realizing he had little to no chance of being the nominee in such a crowded field, knew he needed a breakout moment.
So he decided to attack President Trump with a horrible comment that immediately backfired.
Breitbart has the story, “Sunday on CNN’s ‘State of the Union,’ 2020 presidential hopeful Rep. Seth Moulton (D-MA) declared that President Donald Trump was ‘not a patriot.’”
Moulton said, “I think we need to take on Donald Trump, not just in his job as president, but his job as commander-in-chief. That’s where he’s weakest.”
When asked to clarify his comments, Moulton decided to keep digging his own political grave.
“He’s not a patriot. I mean he is not a patriot at all,” added Moulton.
CNN reporter Jake Tapper then proceeded to ask Seth one more clarifying question.
Tapper asked, “You don’t think he loves this country?”
Moulton said, “I don’t think that someone who encourages our greatest adversary of the last 70 years, Russia, the only country on earth that could wipe out every American life in about 20 minutes, I don’t think a president who encourages Russia to attack us as he did during the campaign, I don’t think a president who disparages American heroes like John McCain and Captain Kahn.”
“I don’t think a president who cozies up to Kim Jong-un and sells out South Korea, we are not doing exercises with them anymore, I don’t think that’s a president who embodies patriotism. Patriotism is being willing to stand up and serve your country,” Moulton said, concluding his attack on Trump.
The words are almost certainly going to spark a heated backlash against the Massachusetts Congressman who simply was trying to get his name out there in a desperate attack on the President.
And while he’s now got greater name ID, almost all of it is negative.
Moulton’s attack on the President’s patriotism shows himself to be a petty and insecure member of Congress who has zero shot at ever becoming president.
And while President Trump gears up for his re-election bid next year, he won’t have to worry about Congressman Moulton being his opponent, though Trump almost certainly would love to face off against him at this point.
Instead, Moulton’s attempt at relevancy ended up spectacularly backfiring, ending his presidential campaign before it even got off the ground.
