When you consider the fact that Donald Trump won most of Texas, it’s hard to believe that Senator Ted Cruz might lose to a socialist progressive in these upcoming midterm elections.
But, that’s what may happen.
Ted Cruz is not faring well against his Democrat challenger Beto O’Rourke. In some polls, he’s as close as 4 percentage points of Cruz.
And Cruz, who’s enjoyed popularity and support in Texas for a number of years is scrambling to keep that edge.
That’s why he’s going all over the state denouncing the liberals and the amount of money they’re pouring into Texas to get him defeated.
On Fox, News Cruz said “We’ve got a race on our hands… If you’re a wealthy liberal sitting in New York City or Massachusetts or San Francisco right now and you could defeat one Republican in the country, it’d be me, that’s why the money is flowing in here.”
O’Rourke isn’t finding it all that difficult to find financial support either. Just a few nights ago he hosted a dinner that required $500 as the entry fee alone.
O’Rourke has outearned Cruz by 50%.
So far O’Rourke has raised $14 million compared to Cruz’s $9.3 million.
Cruz knows why he may lose.
“Despite the fact that he is hard, hard left, he’s the number one Democratic fundraiser in the country, and he is outraising our campaign substantially,” Cruz said.
“With the election of Donald Trump, the far left has lost their minds,” he continued. “The extreme left, they are energized, they’re angry and they have a lot of hatred for President Trump.”
Cruz noted that liberal gushing over O’Rourke never gets to what matters: the issues.
“Their favorite adjective is Kennedyesque,” Cruz said. “They all talk about his hair and his teeth, they talk about no substance, nothing about his record, they don’t talk about his being open to abolishing ICE; they don’t talk about his wanting to impeach the president.”
It’ll be tough to see if the increased spending will actually force Cruz out of office.
The Dems outspent the GOP in the 2016 elections and were still swept.
And it may be the case that the left is in a frenzied state. But just because they’re rabid doesn’t mean they’ll win.
More money spent or not.
