Donald Trump will need a new running mate if he wins the GOP nomination in 2024.
It’s not going to be Mike Pence.
And this huge endorsement is a major hint Trump will pick this GOP woman as his VP.
South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem became the latest major figure in the Republican Party to endorse Donald Trump’s re-election campaign.
Noem’s endorsement showed Trump continued to consolidate support in the primary as early state and national polls showed him far ahead of the competition.
The two-term South Dakota governor endorsed Trump at a rally the 45th president attended.
“He is a man of significance. He is the leader, the fighter, that our country needs,” Noem declared.
“He has my full and complete endorsement for President of the United States of America. I will do everything in my power to help him win to save this great country,” Noem added.
The Noem endorsement kicked the vice-presidential speculation into high gear.
Many expect that Trump will pick a woman as his running mate since Trump’s biggest political weakness is his low standing with female suburban voters.
Noem became a popular figure with the GOP grassroots by being one of the few governors in America never to impose a COVID lockdown or mask mandate.
South Dakota was a state that actually remained free and open.
Unlike other politicians who poor-mouth any talk of being vice president – even if they all would secretly throw their grandmother in front of a train to get the position – Noem openly admitted she wanted the job as Trump’s running mate.
“Yeah. I’d have to consider it,” Noem said in an interview with Fox News. “I think everybody would have to consider it if they were asked that question. It’s such an important time in our history where we see constitutional freedoms being undermined by leaders across this country almost every day.”
“This is a different question. And I will tell you that, of course, I would consider it,” Noem continued.
“Our country is breaking right in front of our very eyes today, and everybody should be a part of putting it back on its foundation. And if President Trump is going to be back in the White House, I’d do all I can to help him be successful,” Noem concluded.
Conservatives do have some questions about Noem.
In 2021 Noem vetoed a bill banning biological males from competing in women’s sports as an influential supporter convinced her the NCAA would boycott South Dakota and refuse to hold college championship events in one of the state’s new arenas.
Under pressure from Tucker Carlson and others, Noem eventually reversed course.
Kristi Noem is likely to make any shortlist of Trump’s vice-presidential nominees.
Since Trump can only serve one term anyone Trump picks as vice president is the automatic GOP frontrunner for the nomination in 2028.
Noem hopes that getting in early with an endorsement of Trump will boost her chances of getting selected to join Trump on the ticket.
