Everyone in Washington is trying to look for any signs as to how the November election will turn out.
The biggest question in Washington is will President Trump win re-election.
And now there is a big hint as to what the answer will be because Rush Limbaugh shared this jaw dropping inside information about 2020.
Political insiders are looking for “bellwether” elections to judge the mood of the country.
In the 2018 election cycle the “bellwether” districts were suburban districts represented by Republicans that Mitt Romney won in 2012 and they flipped to Hillary Clinton in 2016.
Democrats over-performed in special elections in these types of districts running up to the 2018 midterms and those results foreshadowed the “blue wave” last November.
During a recent broadcast Rush Limbaugh discussed the results in a special election Texas State House District 28.
This district was located in the suburbs in Houston and Hillary Clinton carried the district by seven points in 2016.
Limbaugh explained that when the Republican incumbent announced his retirement all the Democrat heavyweights like Joe Biden and Elizabeth Warren poured time, money and manpower into the race to push the Democrat candidate across the finish line.
Democrats hoped picking up this seat would establish a narrative that Texas and its 38 Electoral College votes would be in play and could possibly swing into the Democrat column in 2020.
“Fauxcahontas” endorsed the Democrat. Former [Vice President] Joe Biden did the same. Julian Castro campaigned for the Democrat. Mike Bloomberg bumbled his way into town and apparently knocked on the wrong doors. Beto O’Rourke practically lived in the district for the last few weeks, showing up everywhere giving speeches for the Democratic candidate, Dr. Eliz Markowitz. If one were to go by Twitter, the Democrat would win 90-10,” which is the big mistake the Democrats continue to make…” Limbaugh began.
Democrats pushing all of their chips into the center of the table turned out to be a massive mistake.
The Republican candidate won the race in a massive landslide 58 percent to 42 percent.
“And by the way, “both parties knew the stakes.” The Democrats were convinced — the media was convinced — Trump was going down. This seat was gonna go blue. The Democrats were gonna take it. “Democrat groups and PACs [money] poured money in by the hundreds of thousands. Gates overcame an enormous Democrat effort to [steal] the seat,” they were gonna take this seat. “That was gonna be the beginning of turning Texas blue, but they got blown out in a 58-42 landslide,” Limbaugh concluded.
By throwing the party machinery into the race Democrats proved Texas will not be turning purple anytime soon.
It also shows that the political environment shifted greatly from 2018 and that Donald Trump will not be a drag on Republicans with key suburban swing districts.
And that means not only is President Trump on track for victory in 2020, but that Republicans have a chance to oust Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House and retake the majority.
