President Trump asked for help.
Trump got nothing but bad news in response.
Trump suffered one unspeakable act of betrayal that will change history for the worse.
During his State of the Union address, President Trump called on Congress to pass the SAVE Act.
“Perhaps most importantly, I’m asking you to approve the SAVE America Act,” Trump declared.
The SAVE Act protects fair elections by requiring voter ID, mandating proof of citizenship to vote, purging noncitizens from the voter rolls, and ending mass mail-in voting.
“To stop illegal aliens and others, who are uncommitted persons, from voting in our sacred American elections,” Trump added.
Trump warned Democrats routinely cheat in elections, and the Republican majorities in the House and Senate were at risk without commonsense election integrity requirements like voter ID.
“The cheating is rampant in our elections. It’s rampant. It’s very simple. All voters must show voter ID,” Trump exclaimed. “All voters must show proof of citizenship to vote.”
The House of Representatives passed the SAVE Act.
But RINO Senate Majority Leader John Thune is scheming to kill the bill by allowing Democrats to filibuster it.
Republicans could break that opposition by forcing Democrats to stage a talking filibuster where, after every Senator speaks twice, Republicans could pass the SAVE Act with a simple majority vote.
50 Republicans signed on as co-sponsors of the SAVE Act, so Vice President J.D. Vance would cast the tie-breaking vote and send the bill to Trump’s desk.
Thune continues to make excuses about why he refuses to force Democrats to stage a talking filibuster.
First Thune claimed there was no Republican unity on holding 51 votes to reject all the amendments Democrats would offer.
“The talking filibuster issue is one on which there is not certainly a unified Republican conference, and there would have to be,” Thune stated.
This is a provable falsehood.
The Senate Rs routinely vote to kill non compliant amendments during reconciliation, even on issues they agree with, to protect the privilege of the bill. In 2007, Senate Rs killed an amnesty bill by voting for a Dem amendment they didn’t agree with.

Thune then claimed Republicans simply didn’t have the time to allow Democrats to stage a talking filibuster.
“If we were to go down that route, it’s very hard to pivot and get back to open up the government,” Thune added. “We’ve got a housing bill that we can pivot back and forth to if we get a deal to open up the government. That’s harder to do once you’re in the throes of a talking filibuster.”
This also served as a slap in the face to Trump supporters, as Republican Senators are very open about how much time they waste on frivolous activities.

Instead, Thune promised to hold a “failure theater” vote where Democrats can block the bill using the 60-vote threshold.
“We’ll put the Democrats on the record,” Thune added. “It’s a stark contrast — the Democrats, even in the chamber last night, having to sit there and try and defend allowing non-citizens to vote in American elections. That is a losing proposition for them … In due time, we will get that up on the floor. We will have a vote on it.”
Trump explained that Democrats oppose the SAVE Act because they scheme to cheat in elections.
And now Trump supporters are wondering why establishment Republicans like Thune oppose the SAVE Act.
