We’re just days away from a Democratic takeover of the House of Representatives.
Nancy Pelosi is already laying out her 2019 wish list.
And you won’t believe what the price tag is.
After retaking the House of Representatives in November, Democrats are set to take control of one half of Congress on January 3rd.
A wave of new liberal legislation on everything from guns to taxes are being prepared by Pelosi and her closest allies in Washington.
But the crown jewel of liberal legislation is just beginning to make its way out into the public eye.
The Daily Caller reports, “Democrats are increasingly lining up to support a “Green New Deal,” which, while vague on details, could end up being the largest expansion of government in decades.”
This “Green New Deal” is supposed to be modeled after the massive expansions of government which took place during the 1930s under Franklin Roosevelt’s “New Deal”.
According to the Daily Caller, “More than 40 Democratic lawmakers support the “Green New Deal” as part of a broad plan to fight global warming and bring about what they see as “economic, social and racial justice.”
The plan still lacks final details, but the estimated price tag is already growing by the millions.
As it stands, the plan calls for three concrete goals, whose costs can be measured.
The first is a commitment to move the United States to 100% “green energy”.
The second is a “federal jobs guarantee” for workers forced out of their existing jobs in the energy sector under the plan.
The last is a “guaranteed minimum income” as well as full socialization of the American healthcare marketplace.
The cost of moving the United States over to a 100% renewable electric grid is estimated to be around $5.2 trillion over 20 years.
Meanwhile, the aspects of the Democratic plan that don’t deal with energy will cost trillions as well, with a complete government takeover of the healthcare industry costing over $32 trillion over 10 years.
To top things off, the “guaranteed minimum income” aspect of the plan is estimated to cost some $3.8 trillion a year.
Without adding any other aspects of the Democrats’ plan, which is still being drafted up, these three programs would cost the federal government over $73 trillion in just 10 years.
The current Federal debt stands at just over $21 trillion dollars, while Washington is running annual deficits of nearly $1 trillion a year.
When adding up all the math that is currently available, the Democrats’ “New Green Deal” would utterly bankrupt the United States, driving Washington to run nearly $8 trillion dollar deficits a year, while driving the Federal debt up to over $100 trillion within just the first 10 years.
The amount of money this plan would leave for taxpayers to pony up is astounding.
The massive deficits under President Obama would pale in comparison to this plan.
The numbers described by this plan are so high, it’s almost impossible to fully comprehend their cost.
For comparison’s sake, the Daily Caller reports that “Former President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s “New Deal” of the 1930s during the Great Depression cost $500 billion in today’s dollars.”
Do you think the Democrats’ “Green New Deal” plan costs too much?
