Nancy Pelosi spent months plotting Donald Trump’s downfall.
It all just blew up in her face.
And Nancy Pelosi was left stunned by an order Trump gave that turned the tables on her.
President Trump’s defining issue in the 2016 campaign was illegal immigration.
Then-candidate Donald Trump vowed that he would crack down on illegal aliens, build a wall, secure the border, and end the rampant lawlessness along the southern border with Mexico.
And since taking office, he’s had to fight both liberal Democrats and RINO Republicans in his quest to get border security past Congress.
After a government shutdown that ended up becoming the longest in history, Trump finally called Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s bluff and ordered construction on a border wall to begin without any Democrats left to obstruct or block his signature campaign pledge.
And now, President Trump is taking things to a whole new level with this additional immigration order that left Pelosi stunned and outraged.
“President Donald Trump has directed deputies to quickly draft regulations which will deny work permits to asylum-seeking illegal migrants, shorten the asylum process to 180 days, and charge migrants a fee to apply for asylum,” states Breitbart.
“The new directive provides a legal foundation for the fast-track regulations when they are attacked in court by progressive judges and pro-migration groups. The regulations will be published by the end of July.”
The impact that these new rules could have on the system is hard to predict this early out, but it’s clear that the President is working to make immigration one of the key issues of his re-election campaign, and he’s hoping to finally make progress on this front after years of Democratic obstructionism.
“Roughly 100,000 adults and children crossed the border in March. In the 12 months up to October, roughly one million poor migrants are expected to use the various catch-and-release loopholes — including requests for asylum — to stay and work in the United States for at least several years,” reports Breitbart.
“The migrants use the loopholes to take jobs in blue-collar workplaces, so forcing down wages for blue-collar Americans. The migrants also send their kids to the schools used by blue-collar Americans, so damaging the education received by American kids. The migrants, however, provide cheap labor for white-collar Americans, including immigration lawyers.”
So far, the southern border has been swamped with asylum seekers, many of whom simply cross the border illegally into the United States.
Thousands are rounded up, but border patrol and ICE are running out of space to hold them, while thousands more flood into the country without being caught.
The new rules are meant to try to stem the tide while construction on the border wall gets underway, and it’s clear that the President is taking an “all of the above” route to dealing with the migrant crisis unfolding in the south as he prepares to make the case for his re-election in 2020.
