Megyn Kelly never thought it would get this bad.
The NBC host is in hot water for racial comments she made on a recent broadcast.
But now this closed door meeting may spell the end of her career.
Megyn Lands In Hot Water For Racial Comments
On a recent broadcast, Kelly attacked the left’s political correctness of policing Halloween costumes.
Social justice warriors shame white people for dressing up in Native American or Mexican costumes as “cultural appropriation.”
However, she may have went too far.
She described white people dressing up in black face as ‘normal.’
“But what is racist?” Kelly stated. “Because truly, you do get in trouble if you are a white person who puts on blackface on Halloween, or a black person who puts on whiteface for Halloween. Like, back when I was a kid, that was okay, as long as you were dressing up as, like, a character.”
The backlash was immediate.
Kelly apologized in an email to NBC staff.
But that did not appear to stop the bleeding.
Closed Door Meeting May End Megyn Kelly’s Career At NBC
Kelly is set to meet with NBC News Chief Andy Lack.
Lack famously brought Kelly over from Fox News with a mega-contract.
Kelly saw her Sunday night news magazine show prematurely yanked from the schedule.
And her daytime talk show struggled in the ratings and with booking guests.
Variety exclusive reports that Kelly and NBC had already begun talks to end the daytime show, but are now going to end it sooner because of this controversy:
Megyn Kelly and NBC News have engaged in conversations about her taking a new role at the news division, according to a person who has spoken with the anchor, suggesting both sides have grown weary of the intense scrutiny being placed on her morning program, “Megyn Kelly Today” and casting significant doubt on its future.
Word of the shift comes after Kelly stirred outrage on Tuesday during a segment in which she questioned why it was wrong for people to don “blackface” for Halloween costumes. The backlash contributed to CAA dropping Kelly as a client on Wednesday, according to an industry source (and first reported by the Hollywood Reporter).
But the conversations about ending the 9 a.m. daytime show began before the controversy, the latest since the anchor joined NBC News in March of 2017.
However, this could be the excuse NBC needs to walk away from their deal with Kelly.
Kelly did not fit in at the liberal network.
NBC brought her onboard because she made her name feuding with Donald Trump in 2016.
But NBC’s liberal viewers only saw her as a former Fox News host.
So they never gave her a chance.
And now her career at NBC could be over.
