Kamala Harris was among the many voices on the left ranting about the Virginia Supreme Court throwing out a Congressional map that Democrats illegally rammed through that erased four Republican seats.
The new map transformed the state into a 10-1 Democratic congressional delegation and all but assured Democrats would win a majority in the House of Representatives.
Even though Democrats violated the state constitution in unlawfully putting the map before voters, Kamala claimed the court striking down the map was the real attack on Democracy.
“Last month in Virginia, the people made their voices heard at the ballot box and voted for new Congressional maps. Today, the Virginia Supreme Court ignored the will of the people and overturned those democratically chosen maps,” Kamala ranted on X.
“This ruling gives a boost to Donald Trump’s effort to rig the 2026 elections and the Republicans’ long game to attack voting rights. We are rightfully outraged, but we will not give up. We must continue our fight to restore the power of the people,” Kamala added.
Kamala’s rant was telling on many fronts.
Trump won 46 percent of the vote in Virginia, but this map handed Democrats 91 percent of the Congressional seats.
If anyone was denying the will of the people, it was Democrats by creating a Congressional map that disenfranchised Virginia’s Republicans by eliminating their Congressional representatives.
Kamala’s rant also exposed that Democrats believe their only path to power in November is by rigging the maps because they don’t want to try and sell their ideas.
The Virginia ruling was the second shot in a 1-2 gut punch of court decisions on redistricting.
In addition to the Virginia Supreme Court tossing the Democrats’ illegal map, the Supreme Court that unraveled racial gerrymanders in the South and threatened up to 20 seats that Democrats illegally held.
The New York Times explained how the court decisions impacted the race for the House by shifting double-digit seats in the Republicans’ favor.
“Put bluntly, Republicans have roughly 10 more House seats that favor them than they did just 10 days ago, and Democrats are suddenly grappling with a new landscape,” the Times reported.
Multiple red states immediately drew new maps that dismantled unconstitutional racial gerrymanders that created unlawful Democrat seats, which wiped out the idea that Democrats were a lock to win the House.
“At the end of April, the Cook Political Report, which handicaps political races, listed 217 House seats as at least leaning Democratic — meaning the party would have needed to win just a single “tossup” race to seize the majority. As of Friday, Cook rated 208 seats as at least leaning Democratic — meaning the party would need to win 10 of the 18 “tossup” races,” the Times also reported.
Democrats were already counting their chickens for a win in November with plans to impeach President Trump on day one.
These two court rulings mean the battle for the House is now a dog fight.
