Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s criminal case against Donald Trump continues to crumble.
Bragg thought he was helping Democrats win the 2024 election by prosecuting Trump.
But Alvin Bragg just got some really bad news about his arrest of Donald Trump.
Judge Juan Merchan is overseeing Trump’s criminal trial.
Trump slammed Merchan as a Trump hater after Merchan oversaw trials of Trump CFO Allen Weisselberg and the Trump Organization.
“The Judge ‘assigned’ to my Witch Hunt Case, a ‘Case’ that has NEVER BEEN CHARGED BEFORE, HATES ME. His name is Juan Manuel Marchan, was hand picked by Bragg & the Prosecutors, & is the same person who ‘railroaded’ my 75 year old former CFO, Allen Weisselberg, to take a ‘plea’ deal (Plead GUILTY, even if you are not, 90 DAYS, fight us in Court, 10 years (life!) in jail. He strong armed Allen, which a judge is not allowed to do, & treated my companies, which didn’t ‘plead,’ VICIOUSLY. APPEALING!” Trump posted on Truth Social.
In the Weisselberg trial Merchan uncorked an outrageous rant scolding Weisselberg for pleading guilty over charges about a bookkeeping dispute in exchange for five months in prison.
Merchan shouted that he would have sentenced Weisselberg to a much longer term but felt bound by the agreement.
Members of the fake news media claimed Trump is a racist conspiracy theorist for attacking Merchan’s credibility.
But it turns out Trump is very much correct that Merchan is an anti-Trump activist.
Campaign finance reports show Merchan contributed to Joe Biden as well as other left-wing advocacy groups during the 2020 election.
Breitbart reports:
According to the FEC records, Merchan donated $15.00 to Biden for President — the campaign of Trump’s opponent, on July 26, 2020, via ActBlue.
On July 27, 2020, he donated $10.00 to Progressive Turnout Project, an organization dedicated to turning out Democrat voters, and $10.00 to Stop Republicans, a part of Progressive Turnout Project “dedicated to resisting the Republican Party and Donald Trump’s radical right-wing legacy,” also via ActBlue.
The New York State Code of Judicial Conduct forbids justices from engaging in partisan political activities such as donating to candidates.
Section 100.5 of the New York Code of Judicial Conduct states:
Neither a sitting judge nor a candidate for public election to judicial office shall directly or indirectly engage in any political activity except (i) as otherwise authorized by this section or by law, (ii) to vote and to identify himself or herself as a member of a political party, and (iii) on behalf of measures to improve the law, the legal system or the administration of justice.
“The contribution to Biden and possibly the one to ‘Stop Republicans’ would be forbidden unless there is some other explanation that would allow them,” New York University Professor Stephen Gillers said in an interview with CNN.
Gillers told Breitbart that such donations could lead to discipline or even removal.
“Violations can lead to a warning, private discipline, public discipline and more serious sanctions like removal. Serious discipline (e.g. removal) is decided by the N.Y. Court of Appeals,” Gillers stated.
Questions about Merchan’s political bias continue to swirl around this case.
Merchan’s daughter did work for Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign and then the Biden/Harris ticket.
And now it’s out in the open that Merchan financially supported the Democrat effort to oust Donald Trump.
