Democrats threw everything they had at Donald Trump.
They hoped that if they manufactured enough scandals, something would stick.
But now one judge handed down a ruling that delivered news no one was expecting.
Stormy Daniels Lawsuit Thrown Out
At one point, Democrats thought Stormy Daniels and her claims that Donald Trump paid her hush money was their best bet to impeach Trump.
They hoped Michael Cohen flipping on Trump would provide the smoking gun that would lead to his impeachment.
Daniels claimed that Trump had sent a thug to threaten her in 2011 when she first spoke out about the affair.
She and her celebrity lawyer Michael Avenatti even put out a sketch of the man they claimed was her attacker.
No one stepped forward to identify the man, which led many Americans to believe this was a publicity stunt.
Donald Trump also took that approach.
He tweeted:
“A sketch years later about a nonexistent man. A total con job, playing the fake news media for fools (but they know it),”
Daniels and Avenatti then filed a libel suit against Trump.
This turned out to be another loser.
Judge’s Ruling Is A Big Win For Trump
U.S. District Court Judge S. James Otero threw the case out.
Otero ruled that Trump was engaging in hyperbole and that the office of the President could not function if it operated under the constant threat of libel lawsuits.
“Mr. Trump’s tweet constitutes ‘rhetorical hyperbole,’ which is ‘extravagant exaggeration [that is] employed for rhetorical effect,’” Otero began.
The judge continued, “Specifically, Mr. Trump’s tweet displays an incredulous tone, suggesting that the content of his tweet was not meant to be understood as a literal statement about Plaintiff. Instead, Mr. Trump sought to use language to challenge Plaintiff’s account of her affair and the threat that she purportedly received in 2011. As the United States Supreme Court has held, a published statement that is “pointed, exaggerated, and heavily laden with emotional rhetoric and moral outrage” cannot constitute a defamatory statement.”
Finally, Otero concluded that, “If this Court were to prevent Mr. Trump from engaging in this type of “rhetorical hyperbole” against a political adversary, it would significantly hamper the office of the President. Any strongly-worded response by a president to another politician or public figure could constitute an action for defamation.”
The ruling was a total victory for Trump.
In addition to Otero throwing the suit out, he also ordered Daniels to pay Trump’s legal fees.
Democrats Suffer Massive Defeat
Democrats hoped to use Daniels claims as grounds for impeachment.
But the idea that Trump hired goons to bully Daniels into silence was always highly questionable.
Instead, these allegations are likely to go the same way of Russian collusion, obstruction of justice, and all the other “resistance” fairy tales.
Liberals keep searching for a way to undo the results of the 2016 election.
They know they can’t defeat Trump at the ballot box, so they latch onto flimsy claims and use their allies in the fake news media to mushroom them up into massive scandals.
