After Christine Blasey Ford came forward with her allegations against Brett Kavanaugh, his support among Republican women dropped to just 34%.
Kavanaugh’s support has since risen as Ford’s lawyer revealed she was motivated by political reasons, her friend Ford claimed was at the party with her cast doubt on Ford’s claims, and Ford’s father even apologized to Kavanaugh’s father.
Democrats have enjoyed widespread support among women; Hillary Clinton won the majority of the female votes. However, Joe Biden may be bringing their support to an end.
Tara Reade’s allegation that Joe Biden sexually assaulted her in 1993 is far more credible than Ford’s accusations.
There is no doubt that Reade knew Joe Biden, she worked as an aide at his Senate office, and since she is also a Democrat it makes it more unlikely that she is trying to make a political attack.
There is also the fact that Joe Biden won’t let any members of the public search through his sealed Senate records to see if there is any mention of Tara Reade’s allegations.
Joe Biden is desperately hoping that he can find some way to move past this issue and win back the support that he lost.
He has one strategy that could help his campaign remarkably.
And that would be to have Michelle Obama be his vice president.
A committee has been formed to help Joe Biden win over Michelle Obama’s support.
The “Committee to Draft Michelle Obama” was filed late last month.
“The aim of this campaign is to build on the substantial grassroots support for a potential Michelle Obama candidacy and help garner media attention for a vice presidential nominee who has the power to beat Donald Trump,” the group said in a memo.
“The Committee to Draft Michelle Obama firmly believes that Ms. Obama will not only benefit the Democratic ticket this November but also help lead this country to be more just and caring,” it continued.
They said that the goal of their group was to convince Biden to pick Michelle Obama as his running mate but that can’t be the real goal.
Joe Biden already said that he would pick her “in a heartbeat.”
Biden has been trying to play up his connection to the Obamas for his entire campaign so far.
The Obamas have been less thrilled about their connection to Joe Biden.
Obama reportedly talked Joe Biden out of running in 2016 and when Joe Biden launched his campaign this time, Obama took senior campaign staff of Joe Biden’s aside to make sure his former Vice President didn’t embarrass him.
Barack Obama didn’t endorse Joe Biden until he was the only person left in the primary.
The Obamas seem hesitant about connecting their political future to Biden’s.
Joe Biden needs the Obamas’ help but they don’t need his.
