The FBI’s schemes to take down Donald Trump won’t stay hidden forever.
Republicans in Congress keep digging into their illegal spying during the 2016 election.
And now James Comey is in a panic about what a judge may discover regarding his conspiracy to ruin Donald Trump.
Republicans In Congress Continue To Investigate Comey And The FBI
Trump supporters in Congress continue to probe the FBI’s conduct during the 2016 campaign.
And they continue to turn up disturbing revelations.
A key focus of the investigation is the FBI spying on former Trump campaign aide Carter Page.
The FBI used the fake news Christopher Steele dossier to frame Page as an agent of the Russian government.
That allowed them to get a FISA warrant on Page and the Trump campaign, even though Page had already left the Trump team.
Mark Meadows Asks Federal Judge To Investigate the FBI
North Carolina Republican Mark Meadows led the charge to investigate the FBI.
Meadows wrote a letter to Judge Rosemary Collyer – who is the presiding judge on the FISA court.
He asked her to investigate the FBI and Department of Justice’s conduct in obtaining the warrant against Page.
“As the Presiding Judge of the [Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC)], you are privy to information which could potentially verify or contradict our understanding of abuses of the [Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA)] process,” Meadows wrote. “Ultimately, to protect the integrity of the process, we believe such an investigation is necessary.”
Meadows contends the FBI and DOJ framed Page as a cover for their real purpose – to spy on Donald Trump for the Democrat’s political gain.
“We write to encourage you to investigate the possibility FISA has recently been weaponized for political means,” Meadows stated.
Meadows also asked Judge Collyer to look into claims that the FBI and DOJ misled the FISA court in their warrant application.
The FBI knew the dossier’s claims that Page was a Russian spy were unverified.
But the FBI used the dossier anyways – despite FBI rules about not using unverified information in a FISA warrant application.
“Over the course of our congressional task force’s review into certain investigative and prosecutorial decisions made by the FBI and broader Department of Justice surrounding the 2016 elections, concerns have mounted related to the veracity of information presented before the FISC,” the North Carolina Republican claimed.
“Based on our investigation and open source information, the FISC may not have lived up to the constitution’s protections against unreasonable searches and seizures in approving US citizens targeted for FISA surveillance without probable cause,” Meadows wrote.
Meadows Raises New FBI Spying Concerns
Meadows also found a new area of investigation.
He claimed Republicans discovered the FBI had spied on George Papadopoulos in 2016.
They presented him as a possible suspect in colluding with Russia.
But no such evidence exists.
And if the FBI recorded his conversations, then they would have known that.
Meadows tweeted:
Over several interviews, we’ve learned information suggesting the FBI secretly transcribed, and even taped, George Papadopoulos in 2016. If these “tapes” do exist, the DOJ must make them available to Americans immediately. Their complete refusal to be transparent helps no one.
We will keep you up to date on any new developments in this ongoing story.
