Americans lost trust in the FBI because of the 2016 election.
James Comey allowed Hillary Clinton to get away with crimes while the FBI went after Donald Trump.
Comey is in trouble because Republicans dug up one crime that could land him in jail.
James Comey Caught Red handed Committing FISA Abuses
Critics contend Comey and other FBI agents broke the law when they misled a FISA judge.
The FBI asked for permission to spy on Trump aide Carter Page.
In the warrant application, the FBI claimed Page was a Russian agent.
The FBI told the court that Page was a Russian spy based on the Christopher Steele dossier.
FBI agents also used a September 23, 2016 Yahoo news article that repeated the charges from the dossier as proof.
There was just one problem.
Steele was the source of the Yahoo article.
The FBI used the same source twice.
Critics contend they broke the law by lying to the judge about where their proof came from.
Had the judge known Steele was the source and the proof for the allegation that Page was a spy, he may have not allowed the FBI to spy on Page.
The Scandal Gets Much Worse
The FBI lying to a judge on the Page warrant application was not a one-time mistake.
Republicans learned this was a pattern of abuse of power.
The Daily Caller reported FBI Special Agent Jonathan Moffa told Congress the FBI would leak stories to the press.
FBI agents would turn around and use those press stories as evidence to get a FISA warrant.
The Daily Caller reported:
“He more or less admitted that the FBI/DOJ have previously leaked info to the press and then used stories from the press as justifications for FISA warrants,” a source who took part in Moffa’s interview told TheDCNF.
A Breaking Development In The Story
The Daily Caller broke this story right before DOJ official Bruce Ohr testified before Congress.
Ohr came under fire when it was revealed he was in contact with Christopher Steele after the FBI had stopped using Steele as a source.
The FBI ended their agreement with Steele because he had lied about speaking with reporters.
Ohr also took notes of a conversation with Steele where the ex-British spy claimed he was afraid they would be “exposed” after Trump fired Comey.
Republicans were eager to hear from Ohr.
They believed he could shed light on the FBI’s scandals from the 2016 election.
Congressman Mark Meadows tweeted:
We’ve learned NEW information suggesting our suspicions are true: FBI/DOJ have previously leaked info to the press, and then used those same press stories as a separate source to justify FISA’s
Unreal. Tomorrow’s Bruce Ohr interview is even more critical. Did he ever do this?

Americans lost faith in the FBI because the Bureau got involved in politics on behalf of the Democrats.
For Americans to regain trust in the FBI, the DOJ must hold officials who misled judges accountable.
