Franklin Graham is an American pastor and Chief Executive of the Samaritan’s Purse. He gained international fame through his father, Billy Graham. Billy Graham was a leader of the evangelical movement where hundreds of thousands gathered to hear him preach and thousands gave their lives to Christ at each event.
Franklin Graham also followed in his father’s footsteps as a pastor and has spoken out often against the evils of the world, especially in relation to abortion, homosexual marriage, and radical Islam. Because of his stature as a national spokesman for American values, his very presence is polarizing to many.
So a recent call from Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) for Donald Trump to drop Graham as one of other prayer leaders at next week’s Presidential election comes as no surprise.
CAIR is not pulling any punches. They issued a statement telling Trump he needed to replace Graham.
“If President-elect Trump truly seeks to unite our nation as he promised in his acceptance speech, he will limit the list of those offering prayers at the inauguration to religious leaders who work to bring us together, not to create divisions between faiths,” said CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad. “Rev. Graham’s ill-informed and extremist views are incompatible with the Constitution and with American values of religious liberty and inclusion.”
However, CAIR’s call for Trump to give Graham the boot probably won’t carry any water. Trump loves Graham. At a post win rally in Alabama, Trump sang Graham’s praises.
“I want to thank so many great people, but having Franklin Graham, who was so instrumental, we won so big, with evangelical Christians, we won so big,” Trump told the crowd of 20,000.
Awad’s plea is ironic, coming from CAIR, a group steeped in the religion of Islam. Islam claims to be a religion of peace, but anyone with a brain knows that a large portion of the terror attacks that have happened here or abroad are actually heavily Islamic.
In fact CAIR itself has been named as an unindicted co-conspirator in terror funding for terror groups like Hamas. There’s nothing more divisive than terrorizing people through vicious attacks which maim and kill. Even more ironic is CAIR’s idea that Graham is not respecting the Constitution, when in fact, the mastermind of the 9/11 tower attacks, Khalid Sheik Mohammed, said this about The Constitution.
[My Jihadi-minded brothers] will wrap themselves in America’s rights and laws for protection, ratchet up acceptance of Sharia law, and then, only when they were strong enough, rise up and violently impose Sharia from within.”
