Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is swimming in scandals.
The freshmen Democrat is constantly generating negative headlines for one crisis after another that would’ve ended anyone else’s career.
But things are about to get worse for Ocasio-Cortez because the IRS has some really bad news for her.
Ocasio-Cortez’s latest scandal involves an unpaid corporate tax bill.
She owes the state of New York nearly two thousand dollars in unpaid corporate taxes for Book Avenue Press, a company she founded in 2012 to publish children’s books.
Adding to the mystery is the fact that reporters for the New York Post could not find any evidence that her company ever published one book.
New York state hit her with the unpaid bill back in July 2017 and Ocasio-Cortez’s delinquency now reaches almost two full years.
Many Americans are outraged because, even though the amount of money is not that great, Ocasio-Cortez is crusading on a “soak the rich” tax scheme.
Ocasio-Cortez caused a national stir with a proposal for a socialist wealth tax where the government would confiscate seventy percent of earnings after Americans reached a certain threshold.
She floated the idea of this wealth tax to pay for her Marxist “Green New Deal” in a 60 Minutes interview.
“You know, you look at our tax rates back in the ’60s and when you have a progressive tax rate system, your tax rate, you know, let’s say, from zero to $75,000 may be 10 percent or 15 percent, et cetera,” Ocasio-Cortez told 60 Minutes.
“But once you get to, like, the tippy tops, on your 10 millionth dollar, sometimes you see tax rates as high as 60 or 70 percent. That doesn’t mean all $10 million are taxed at an extremely high rate, but it means that as you climb up this ladder you should be contributing more,” she continued.
Critics are blasting Ocasio-Cortez for her hypocrisy.
But such two-faced talk is not new for Ocasio-Cortez.
While Ocasio-Cortez champions the “Green New Deal” and wants to ban hamburgers, air travel and cars, during a recent appearance in New York, she traveled just a few blocks in a gas-guzzling SUV instead of taking the subway.
Apparently only regular Americans are the ones who are supposed to make diet and lifestyle sacrifices to combat so-called “climate change.”
Elites like Ocasio-Cortez have no problem generating a larger carbon footprint if it means not being inconvenienced.
The New York Democrat supports the government taking upwards of 70 percent of a person’s earnings, but refuses to pay her own tax bill.
Ocasio-Cortez doesn’t abide by the tax laws she champions.
She demands others restrict their travel options while not doing so herself.
This leads many Americans to accuse her of being a typical Washington swamp creature.
They say politicians like Ocasio-Cortez – who talk a good game, but don’t back it up – are a dime a dozen.
And the American people’s frustrations with phony politicians like Ocasio-Cortez is exactly the environment that made it possible for Donald Trump to get elected.
