Ilhan Omar spent the last year creating one career threatening scandal after another.
Omar’s racism and anti-Americanism threaten not only her career, but the Democrat Party’s prospects in 2020.
And things just went from bad to worse because Ilhan Omar knew she made a huge mistake the second these words left her mouth.
Ilhan Omar led the parade of mourning the Democrat Party engaged in after Donald Trump gave the order to terminate terrorist Iranian General Qasem Soleimani.
Soleimani oversaw the murder of over 600 American troops, but Democrats gave a pass to Soleimani’s blood soaked reign of terror because they hate Donald Trump more than they love their country.
Omar has long sympathized with Islamic terrorism as she once dismissed 9/11 as “something some people did.”
So it was not surprising to see the path Omar chose to travel down in her response to President Trump’s bold decision to defend America.
After Iran fired 15 ballistic missiles at two U.S. Air Force bases in Iraq President Trump did not let Iran’s attack go unpunished.
The President kept his word to avoid another endless war in the Middle East, but also showed Iran that he was willing to enforce a red line by slapping the rogue nation with more crippling economic sanctions.
“As we continue to evaluate options and response to Iranian aggression, the United States will immediately impose additional punishing economic sanctions on the Iranian regime,” President Trump explained in a White House address to the nation following the strikes. “These powerful sanctions will remain until Iran changes its behavior.”
Instead of siding with troops under attack by a terrorist supporting nation, Omar made it clear her loyalties belonged to the Islamic government in Iran.
Omar responded on social media to Donald Trump’s announcement of new sanctions by blasting the President for committing an “act of war.”
“This makes no sense. Sanctions are economic warfare. They have already caused medical shortages and countless deaths in Iran. You cannot claim to want deescalation and then announce new sanctions with no clear goal. This is not a measured response!” Omar raged.
Iranian backed militias killed a U.S. contractor, stormed the American embassy in Baghdad and fired missiles at United States Air Force bases, but Omar considered Iran the innocent victim in this scenario.
Omar’s opposition to sanctions also was not some long standing principle.
The Minnesota Congresswoman has no problem supporting sanctions on Israel.
Omar supports the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement that seeks to destroy the nation of Israel.
But since Omar is a Jew-hating anti-Semite, sanctions on Israel are a perfectly acceptable policy response.
Omar’s defense of Iran and opposition to military strikes that took out a terrorist drenched in the blood of dead American soldiers yanked the Democrats to politically perilous ground.
Every major Democrat running for President was afraid to cross the Democrat base voters that Omar speaks for so they raced to oppose Soleimani’s killing.
While that may play in the Democrat primary, President Trump and his team are betting Omar is leading the Democrats down a general election dead end.
