There are certain lines you don’t cross in politics – spouses and children qualify.
Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar doesn’t care about limits or boundaries.
And Ilhan Omar just sucker punched Trump’s family with this unthinkable smear.
President Trump told reporters during an Oval Office press gaggle that the events in Iran forced him to miss his son Donald Jr.’s wedding to Bettina Anderson in the Bahamas.
“He’d like me to go, but it’s going to be just a small little private affair, and I’m going to try and make it,” Trump began.
“I’m in the midst — I said, you know, this is not good timing for me,” Trump quipped. “I have a thing called ‘Iran’ and other things. That’s one I can’t win on.”
“If I do attend, I get killed. If I don’t attend, I get killed by the fake news, of course, I’m talking about. He’s got a very good person I’ve known for a long time, and hopefully they’re going to have a great marriage,” Trump concluded.
Trump was facing a final deadline on whether to order a final round of military strikes against Iran or to accept a peace agreement to end the war.
As Commander-in-Chief facing a life-or-death situation, Trump believed he needed to remain in Washington, where he could meet with his national security team in person if matters required it.
Ilhan Omar wasn’t about to grant Trump a moment of grace or to understand that being President placed a different set of obligations on the occupant of the Oval Office.
Instead, she attacked Trump as a bad father for skipping his son’s wedding.
“I mean, I would think any parent would want to be there for their child’s important day, and getting married is a pretty important day,” Omar told TMZ.
Even TMZ got what was going on and asked Omar if resolving a war created an extenuating circumstance.
“Even if there is a lot of other stuff going on, like a war and things like that?” the TMZ reporter wondered
Omar then claimed Trump found time for trivial activities to falsely imply that Trump didn’t care about his son.
“He finds time to golf when there are important things that are happening, or walk around talking about the ballroom,” Omar added.
“So he certainly — if he really cared about his son and cared about being a family man, he would try to make time to go to his son’s wedding,” Omar continued.
Bitterness and fear of deportation may be driving Omar’s cheap shots at Trump.
Vice President J.D. Vance recently appeared to confirm that the Department of Justice was investigating Omar for immigration fraud.
The walls apparently closing in could explain Omar’s shameless attacks on the Trump family.
