Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis took her turn in the spotlight by becoming the latest Democrat prosecutor to indict Donald Trump.
Democrat prosecutors are lining up to charge Trump as part of an all-out crusade to prevent Trump from winning back the White House.
But Fani Willis has a dirty secret that could get the charges against Trump dropped.
In the dead of night Willis dropped a 13-count indictment against Trump with charges carrying a total of 76.5 years in prison.
Willis criminalized Donald Trump’s First Amendment right to free speech as well as his ability to receive advice from counsel as part of her scorched-earth partisan investigation.
Now it’s Willis’s conduct that is under scrutiny and she is seeing allegations that could see her booted off the case or the charges thrown out due to prosecutorial misconduct.
Willis is an elected Democrat who is up for re-election next year.
That means she needs to raise money.
And Willis launched a fundraising website for her campaign to coincide with her announcement she intended to indict Donald Trump.
“Friend, we wanted you to know first that our new website is up and ready for you to share with your friends and family,” the website reads. “Sign up to volunteer, host an event, and continue to support the team! Thank you for your continued support to build a brighter future for Fulton County. With gratitude, Team Fani.”
The website went up two weeks after Willis told a local media outlet her two-and-a-half-year witch hunt against Donald Trump was nearing a conclusion and her office would soon announce its charging decisions to arrest Trump.
“The work is accomplished,” Willis told 11Alive. “We’ve been working for two-and-a-half years. We’re ready to go.”
On the day of the indictment the Fulton County court published an indictment of Donald Trump on 13 counts while the grand jury was still in the process of hearing witness testimony.
The court clerk claimed this was a “fictitious” document that was nothing more than a “trial run.”
But that “fictitious” document that was merely a “trial run” happened to include the identical number of charges and accompanying statute violations that Willis included in her indictment against Trump for challenging the outcome of the 2020 election.
The charges against Trump are the exact same ones that were accidentally posted to Atlanta’s Fulton County website ten hours ago, before the grand jury had even voted to indict. The same leak the court labeled “fictitious” a few hours ago. So pathetic. See for yourself. https://t.co/YY6s0CDeBD pic.twitter.com/tfzdoRkCRU

Trump’s lawyers later released a statement blasting Willis for acts of what they called misconduct that will likely form the basis of the Trump team’s motion to disqualify from the case and to get the charges dismissed.
“The events that have unfolded today have been shocking and absurd, starting with the leak of a presumed and premature indictment before the witnesses had testified or the grand jurors had deliberated and ending with the District Attorney being unable to offer any explanation. In light of this major fumble, the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office clearly decided to force through and rush this 98-page indictment. This one-sided grand jury presentation relied on witnesses who harbor their own personal and political interests— some of whom ran campaigns touting their efforts against the accused and/or profited from book deals and employment opportunities as a result. We look forward to a detailed review of this indictment which is undoubtedly just as flawed and unconstitutional as this entire process has been,” Drew Findling, Jennifer Little and Marissa Goldberg wrote.
