No network promoted former FBI Director Jim Comey’s Congressional testimony harder than CNN.
The far-left network was giddy over the possibility Comey would do Trump in once and for all.
But they were exposed for using very fake news to manufacture a crisis surrounding Trump.
When Trump fired Comey, he mentioned the fact in his letter that Comey had told him on three separate occasions he was not under investigation.
Journalists immediately found that suspicious because it would ruin their narrative that Trump was a puppet of Russian President Vladimir Putin and the two of them had worked hand-in-glove to rig the 2016 election.
CNN – which has been hyping the Comey testimony like the Super Bowl, with multi-person panel discussions and countdown clocks – found an anonymous Comey “associate” to claim Trump was a liar.
Two days before Comey was set to testify, CNN reported:
“Trump has made a blanket claim that Comey told him multiple times that he was not under investigation. But one source said Comey is expected to explain to senators that those were much more nuanced conversations from which Trump concluded that he was not under investigation.”
This was fake news.
In Comey’s prepared testimony, he outlined three conversations in which he informed the President-elect and the current President Trump he was not under investigation.
CNN was forced to add a humiliating correction to their story:
“CORRECTION AND UPDATE: This article was published before Comey released his prepared opening statement. The article and headline have been corrected to reflect that Comey does not directly dispute that Trump was told multiple times he was not under investigation in his prepared testimony released after this story was published.”
And they updated the language of the piece to say:
“An earlier version of this story said that Comey would dispute Trump’s interpretation of their conversations. But based on his prepared remarks, Comey outlines three conversations with the President in which he told Trump he was not personally under investigation.”
Anti-Trump networks like CNN are often caught peddling fake news fed to them by anonymous sources.
The “anonymous” sources know these outfits will print any story about Trump so long as it makes him look bad – without verifying the details or getting people to go on the record with their accusations so readers can judge the person’s access to the information they claim and their truthfulness.
While they later corrected the story, they were able to drive the news cycles for a day with fake news that sources provided to them because that source knew CNN was all too happy to fill their air with anti-Trump content.
When polls show fewer Americans trust the so-called “mainstream” media or Trump supporters don’t outright believe what they air or publish, CNN’s false story about Comey contradicting Trump is a prime example of why.
Trump supports believe that networks like CNN aren’t reporting the news, but are engaged a relentless campaign to ruin Trump and drive him from office.
A Harvard study found CNN aired 93 percent negative coverage of Trump during his first 100 days in office.
They weren’t the only network to load up their airtime with Trump hating panelists and anti-Trump stories, but they were tied with NBC for being the worst offenders.
What are your thoughts?
Did CNN make a mistake?
Or did they purposefully air this false story out of hatred for President Trump?
