The Democrats are terrified at the way Ron DeSantis is stopping their insane agenda.
And he’s continuing to fight against them.
Democrats launched a new targeted attack they hope will destroy Ron DeSantis.
California has added five more states to its list of states with state-funded travelbans because Democrat California Attorney General Rob Bonta claims that they have passed laws “directly targeting transgender youth.”
Alabama, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, and Texas were already on the list. Arkansas, Florida, Montana, North Dakota, and West Virginia were added.
California has banned state-funded travel to over a third of states.
“California must take action to avoid supporting or financing discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people,” Bonta proclaimed, adding, “Make no mistake: We’re in the midst of an unprecedented wave of bigotry and discrimination in this country — and the State of California is not going to support it.”
The travel ban started after North Carolina passed a law that required people to use public bathrooms based on the sex shown on their birth certificate.
The only exceptions to the law are litigation or to protect public health.
A spokesperson for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis responded to Newsweek, saying that Florida would still welcome people from California both as tourists and as new residents.
“Congratulations to California for somehow managing to create a new way to politicize its bureaucracy,” Press Secretary Christina Pushaw wrote. “The bill Governor DeSantis signed is not discriminatory; in fact, it’s the opposite—the legislation ensures that women’s sports remain fair. On the contrary, allowing biological males to compete in women’s sports is discriminatory, because it puts girls and women at a disadvantage based on immutable, innate characteristics.
“I respectfully suggest that California’s government focus on fixing the problems in their own state instead of worrying about Florida.”
In 2017 California banned state-funded travel to Texas, saying that Texas’ House Bill 3859 “allows foster care agencies to discriminate against children in foster care and potentially disqualify LGBT families from the state’s foster and adoption system.”
Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s spokesman John Wittman replied, “California may be able to stop their state employees, but they can’t stop all the businesses that are fleeing over taxation and regulation, and relocating to Texas.”
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton later stated, “Boycotting states based on nothing more than political disagreement breaks down the ability of states to serve as laboratories of democracy while still working together as one nation — the very thing our Constitution intended to prevent.”
Texas asked the U.S. Supreme Court to block California’s law but in April they denied Texas’ request.
