Adam Schiff has had a big smile on his face ever since November.
As the new chair of one of Washington’s most powerful committees, Schiff has made it his mission to destroy President Trump.
And he just made a bold claim about his investigations into Trump that could lead to the President’s impeachment.
Congressman Adam Schiff (D-CA) has been looking forward to wielding real power against the President for years.
And after Democrats retook the House of Representatives in November, Adam Schiff suddenly became one of the most powerful men in Washington.
He’s since been appointed Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee and has used the committee to railroad multiple investigations into President Trump’s finances and business dealings.
Schiff’s goal is to bring about the downfall of President Trump, and he just dropped a bombshell that may lead to the President’s removal from office.
On CNN’s “State of the Union” last week, Schiff told Jake Tapper that he believed “multiple witnesses” committed perjury when they testified to the House Committee on Intelligence.
“Robert Mueller’s investigation has been extended for up to another six months. I know that you aren’t directly working with Mueller’s investigation, but what do you make of that?” asked Tapper.
“Over the last two years, frankly, our committee was working to conflict itself with the special counsel to make the special counsel’s work more difficult,” replied Schiff.
“We hope as one of our first acts to make the transcripts of our witnesses fully available to the special counsel for any purpose, including the bringing of perjury charges, if necessary, against any of the witnesses,” the California Congressman added.
When pressed further by Tapper to name individuals he believed committed perjury, Schiff refused to elaborate.
But he commented that “there’s no reason to protect these witnesses”, suggesting that he is prepared to bring the hammer of Congress down on anyone he believes violated the law to protect President Trump.
The thing is, Schiff has provided no proof that anyone has committed perjury.
What’s more, Schiff has suggested that the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election by Special Counsel Robert Mueller may end up opening the door to President Trump’s removal from office and possible jail time.
Schiff has openly feuded with the President for years, parroting on multiple news networks for months that Donald Trump colluded with the Russians to rig the 2016 election and seal the presidency from Hillary Clinton.
All the while, he has provided no proof to any of these allegations.
The playbook has repeated itself with his newest charge that witnesses who testified to his committee committed perjury.
It remains to be seen how far Schiff will go in his quest to destroy the President.
But with just a week into his term as Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, it’s clear he is actively expanding the scope of his investigations into the President to include anyone who crosses his path.
