Democrats hatched a plan to defeat Donald Trump before the 2020 election even started.
If this plot succeeds, Democrats will reduce Donald Trump to a helpless bystander on election day.
And now this court handed down a bombshell decision about kicking Trump off the ballot.
Recently, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed a bill into law mandating that candidates for President release their tax returns if they wanted their name on Golden State’s primary ballot.
The law was aimed at Donald Trump as liberals cling to the false hope that the President’s tax returns contain untold financial crimes that end Trump’s political career and land him in prison.
The Trump campaign immediately filed suit to block this blatantly unconstitutional law.
And President Trump and his lawyers just scored a major victory in this fight.
U.S. District Court Judge Morrison England, Jr. temporarily blocked the law until he issues a final ruling later this month.
And it appears that Judge England will strike down this law.
During oral arguments in the case, Judge England pressed lawyers for California if this law would create a patchwork of state ballot access laws that would make elections and campaigns unworkable.
“Wouldn’t that create a hodgepodge of laws around the country?” Judge England wondered.
England also asked attorneys about the 1978 Ethics in Government Act which requires federal officials – including President Trump – to file detailed financial reports.
President Trump followed this law each year of his Presidency.
Supporters of the law protested Judge England’s decision.
“We remain firm in our belief that SB 27 is constitutional and provides invaluable transparency for voters as they decide who will hold the most powerful office in the United States,” California Secretary of State Alex Padilla raged.
“These are extraordinary times,” California Governor Gavin Newsom’s spokesman Jesse Melgar declared. “States have a legal and moral duty to restore public confidence in government and ensure leaders seeking the highest offices meet minimal standards.”
There was one other aspect to this law that made the decision so crucial.
California has a “jungle” primary.
That means the top two vote-getters, regardless of party, advance to the General Election.
Without President Trump sharing the ballot with the Democrat Presidential candidates, down ballot Republicans such as Congressional candidates are at a severe disadvantage.
Democrat turnout will surge and Republican turnout will likely sink.
That could lead to races where there are two Democrats qualifying for the General Election and shut the Republicans out of key races they need to win back the House.
California formed the crest of the 2018 blue wave that crashed across America in the midterm elections.
Kicking President Trump off the 2020 primary ballot was a backdoor play by the Democrats to cement those gains and drop a massive obstacle in the path of the Republican Party to prevent the GOP from taking back the House.
