Democrats are salivating over the 2018 midterms.
Chuck Schumer is scheming to ride the media’s anti-Trump narrative back to a majority in the U.S. Senate.
But one poll just gave him really bad news.
Democrats need to win just three seats to rip back the Senate from the GOP.
Controlling the Senate would allow them subpoena power to drown the administration in investigations.
A Democrat majority would also slam the brakes on Trump’s Make America Great Again agenda.
But while Republicans must defend the majority, they can thwart the Democrats by winning seats held by liberal incumbents.
One of those sitting Democrat senators is Michigan’s Debbie Stabenow.
And Stabenow may be facing an unexpected challenger.
Musician Kid Rock – and Michigan native – has said he is exploring a Senate run.
The musician famous for songs such as “American badass” and “Picture” could pose the toughest challenge to Stabenow.
A recent poll found him leading her by three points in a hypothetical matchup.
“Kid Rock is currently a huge favorite among Michigan voters, according to a new poll showing the rock star has a massive double digit lead over his would-be Republican primary rivals, as well as incumbent Sen. Debbie Stabenow.
Kid Rock, whose real name is Robert James Ritchie, leads Sen. Stabenow 48.6 percent to 46.1 percent, according to a survey of 1,078 likely voters released Friday by the Trafalgar Group. The rocker also leads potential Republican candidates in a hypothetical matchup 49.62 percent to 28.10 percent, the survey says.
The Trafalgar Group, coincidently, predicted President Trump’s upset victory in Michigan over Hillary Clinton last November.
Last week, a Delphi Analytica poll showed that the Trump-supporting singer would beat incumbent Michigan Democratic Sen. Debbie Stabenow in a head-to-head. Some 44 percent of the poll’s respondents declined to pick a candidate. But of those who did specify support for a candidate, Kid Rock led Stabenow 54-46 percent.
While his decision to enter the Michigan U.S. Senate race looms, the 46-year-old rocker appears to be running a shadow Senate campaign. Kid Rock announced plans Wednesday for a new get-out-the-vote initiative, where he will register voters during his concerts, in a lengthy blog post that also included details about his political future.”
Kid Rock – whose real name is Robert Ritchie – could throw a monkey wrench into Schumer’s plan to become Majority Leader.
His outsider persona and anti-political correctness stance could tap into the same voter sentiment that pushed Trump over the finish line.
Any seat the Republicans pick up would complicate the Democrats chances of taking back the Senate.
While many pundits speculated that Kid Rock was not serious about running for Senate, the performer wrote on his website that he was grateful and surprised by the amount of support he received.
He also said his candidacy wasn’t a joke and that he was announcing a new initiative to register voters at his concert.
Will Kid Rock ultimately run for Senate?
